A week ago, the Detroit Lions brought back wide receiver Tim Toone by signing him to the practice squad. Cornerback Donovan Warren was released to make room for Toone, who was just released today to make room for wide receiver Owen Spencer.
Spencer was last with the Seattle Seahawks. He spent a few weeks on their practice squad this month before recently being released. During the preseason he played for the Tennessee Titans after being signed by them as an undrafted free agent out of North Carolina State.
Spencer worked out with the Lions on Tuesday. Former Steelers wide receiver Terrence McCrae also worked out with the Lions on Tuesday. Detroit decided to add Spencer to the practice squad and release Toone for the second time in the last month (he was also cut during the final round of roster cuts).
The Lions also released tight end Cornelius Ingram, who was placed on the practice squad injured reserve earlier this month.
