NFL Roster Cuts: Detroit Lions Release Ian Johnson
Dave Birkett reports that the Detroit Lions have released running back Ian Johnson, indicating that Jerome Harrison and Aaron Brown have made the team.
Although he showed potential during the preseason, Johnson was clearly behind the other running backs. Jahvid Best is obviously the starter, and Maurice Morris will be the backup if he's healthy. Harrison did enough in the last couple weeks to make his case for a spot on the roster, and it appears he will remain on the team. The same goes for Brown, who looked pretty good this preseason.
In addition to Johnson, the following players have been released by the Lions so far today: defensive tackle Robert Callaway, wide receiver Nate Hughes, defensive tackle Quinn Pitcock, defensive end Keyunta Dawson, offensive tackle Kirk Chambers, linebacker Cobrani Mixon and cornerback Paul Pratt.
So far we know that Pratt is expected to be signed to the Lions practice squad if he clears waivers.

NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My grandfather was a Packers fan, my father is a Vikings fan, I am a Lions fan, and there is no way in hell I am raising a Bears fan.
Oh, and I hate the Philadelphia Eagles (but like the Phillies)
We knew this was coming
but I hope the dude catches on somewhere else. He seems like a classy guy, and I hope he’s given the chance to make a roster somewhere else.

…just wanted you guys to know that so far I’m at 79% in correctly guessing roster deletions. Trades like Turk & tossups like Felton—or wrong guesses on guys that would creep back onto the Practice Squad—represent most of my misses. Just curious, is anyone else playing this little game, and how are you doing this Roster Day?

Won 12 batting titles, including 9 in a row from 1907 to 1915.
Third all time in stolen bases with 892.
Second in runs scored with 2,245.
Second in career hits with 4,191.
Batted under .320 only once in his career.
Batted over .400 three times.
Right after Statue of Liberty play to win

I'd be more exited for opening of NCAA Football
but most of these games are glorified scrimmages. SUCH a huge talent differential…

8 down, 19 to go.
I am waiting to see Derrick Williams name on the cut list. Also, who won the key battles at safety: Silva or Wendling, punter: Donahue or Harris, LB- will they keep 7" CB-how many do they keep? Do they put A. Smith on PUP list to keep an extra person O-linemen, does Niswanger make it? These are the most contentious areas, so we’ll know by this afternoon. I think we’ll also see the Lions pick up 1-2 players from others cuts. Big RB, OG/C? I can only hope. Otherwise, everything looks to be in good shape.
Best of luck to Ian, maybe he makes out P. S.
