It appears the Detroit Lions have replaced Aaron Brown not with another running back, but with offensive guard Jacques McClendon. McClendon was claimed off waivers by the Lions in a move confirmed by Dave Birkett and first tweeted by McClendon himself.
A fourth-round pick in 2010, McClendon spent his first season in the NFL with the Indianapolis Colts. He sounds like a pretty versatile player based on this brief recap of what he did in 2010 with the Colts:
2010: Appeared in four games as reserve…saw time on special teams and at TE…was inactive games 1-3, 5-7 and 12-16…was active but did not play at Jacksonville 10/3. POST-SEASON: Was active but did not play in Wild Card Playoffs vs. NYJ 1/8.
It's hard for me to believe to believe the Lions are going to go into the season with only three running backs (or four if you count Stefan Logan) and 10 offensive linemen, so I would be a bit surprised if this is the only roster move made today by Detroit.
