Detroit Lions Claim Keiland Williams Off Waivers

Stay connected for news and updates

The mystery has been solved. Aaron Brown was released earlier today because the Detroit Lions claimed running back Keiland Williams off waivers, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Williams was signed as an undrafted free agent out of LSU by the Washington Redskins last year. He was let go yesterday during the final round of this year's roster cuts.

Last year, Williams appeared in 15 games for the Redskins. He made three starts and had a total of 65 carries for 261 yards and three touchdowns. He also had 39 receptions for 309 yards and two touchdowns.

Williams, who is 5-foot-11 and weighs 230 pounds, will join the Lions' stable of running backs that includes Jahvid Best, Maurice Morris, Jerome Harrison and Stefan Logan (every so often). While Brown had an excellent preseason for the Lions, the front office sees Williams as an upgrade, so they decided to go ahead and part ways with Brown and add Williams to the roster.
