Just read something interesting. There is some number swapping going around in the D. Brandon Pettigrew will no longer wear number 84. He's decided to switch back to his college number of 87. Both of the number hold a place in the minds of most Lions fans. 84 being that of Herman Moore and 87 of Johnny Morton (love him or hate him). 

The other changes involve two linebackers. Doug Hogue will now wear #57 which was being worn by Justin Durant.  Not sure why the switch for Hogue. I think it might have more to do with Justin Durant wanting the number 52. Durant initial number choice was that of #56. This number was retired in honor of Joe Schmidt, although it was unretired with the families blessing for Pat Swilling. Not sure if it was re-retired after Swilling or not, can't find any information on that. However, no player since Swilling has donned the #56.
