Detroit Lions Practice Squad Taking Shape
All eight spots have not been filled, and the Detroit Lions haven't made an official announcement yet, but their practice squad is really starting to take shape. Five spots are accounted for, and a sixth player may have been added as well.
First, here is a list of the players already signed to the practice squad (via Dave Birkett): wide receiver Nate Hughes, center Dan Gerberry, offensive tackle Casey Bender, defensive tackle Corvey Irvin (yes, he is a practice squad player) and safety Ricardo Silva.
Another player who appears to be on his way to joining the practice squad is cornerback Walter McFadden. The Oakland Raiders released him on Saturday, and McFadden is going to sign with the Lions, according to RaidersBlog's Chris Hansen. The Detroit News' Chris McCosky says McFadden is a "practice squad guy," so it doesn't appear he is joining the 53-man roster.
McFadden was originally selected by the Raiders in the fifth round of last year's draft. He appeared in four games for the Raiders in 2010.

How About..
Tim Toone will he be on the squad, I really like him as a potential 5th WR in the future.
It's sounding like he wasn't offered a spot on the PS
he was saying so long to Detroit on his facebook yesterday. I really hope he either gets on our PS or another team puts him on their active roster. Big fan of Toone
LITTLE MAN IN BACKFIELD! LITTLE MAN IN BACKFIELD! GO STEFAN LOGAN!
Warren Mcfadden does not suck.
Playing opposite NA even though it was for only 4 game last season you know that he had to have balls thrown his way. I caught him in a late game last year and he can play, and play with “tude”
.Does your momma have a Big Ass like your head?
yeah, all we need is to turn that athlete into a football player
thus I like his chances with Tim Walton in his corner…

Yeah, but what's his 40 time?
No slogans. Just win!!!
According to PFF McFadden did suck.
They had him charted as playing in only 50 snaps. He was thrown at eight times giving up seven completions for an average gain of just over 20 yards and two touchdowns.
The long gain was 57 yards so it is not as if he gave up one ninety yard and a bunch of short ones.
This is a small sample though and it is possible the guy could improve.
Five foot ten and one hundred and eighty pounds? I was hoping he was a big guy. Not really sure what the attraction is here. Oh well, trust Mr. Mayhew.
"Filling a need doesn’t necessarily mean you’re getting a good player," said Schwartz. "It doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re getting a player that best fits; it doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re getting a player that’s better than what you have already."
Ya I watched that game...
between the Cards & OAK< Born & raised in MI but lived in AZ for a few back home now tho, but ya I remember this guy he was makin plays all over the field, if any DBs get hurt he could step right in @ least maybe make a name on Spec Teams…
Yessir......any CB across from NA is going to have a rough time, but he looked like a play maker.

McFadden
There was very little mention of McFadden by Raider fans; no expression of shock with his axeing.

Here is to hoping that we don't have to find out how good any of these players are until next years camp ;)

Nothing to do with this post but
Is anyone else watching Michael Lombardi trying to catch a serious ass whoopin from Heath Evans lol.
"according to RaidersBlog's Chris Hansen"
Have a seat.
Not too bad. I’m glad they got Silva for the PS
My POD Main Fantasy Football league team will rule all!!
Callaway and Pitcock
I must have missed it…. were both of these guys signed by someone? if not, why haven’t we signed at least Callaway to the PS?
Yeah
I would like to know what happened to Callaway and Finley.
Pitcock isn't PS eligible
At least I don’t think he is…He played in 9 games for the Colts in 2007. I think 6 games is considered a season when considering practice squad.

birketts tweet said mixon had concussion so who knows if were done with him or not
Matthew Stafford, Quarterback: a man barely alive, Gentlemen we can rebuild him, We have the technology, We have the capability to make the worlds first bionic QB, Matthew Stafford will be that man, Better than he was before
Better, Stronger, Faster
I think a TE and a LB will fill the last 2 spots
I thought being lazy was a bad thing, So I gave up thinking.
McFadden looked like a playmaker for Auburn on YouTube highlights
Supposedly also runs a 4.37 – I wonder what happened to him in OAK ?
Also why did he last so long in last years draft ?
I guess he was injured last year for OAK
Got toasted pretty bad when he was healthy -
NNamdi was quoted as saying that it is just growing pains for him
as the Raiders play a tough bump and run coverage scheme -
OAK had a lot of numbers at corner this year. McFadden needs coaching.
Silva and Hughes got rob d not making the 53 man roster...

Silva maybe
but he was still pretty raw. I don’t remember Hughes getting much playing time or doing much with what he had.
