My Fantasy Team

Evil smurf started a keeper league and this is my team. I feel overall and for the scoring system we have (kick returners & completions ect. essential) i have a pretty good team. Please leave comments and suggestions!

QB: Tom Brady
        Blaine Gabbert

RB: LeGarrette Blount
        C.J Spiller
Jerome Harrison (just dropped him for Leon Washington Due to kick returning)
        Chester Taylor

WR: Wes Welker
         Julio Jones
         Hines Ward
Josh Cribbs (kick returner and one of top receiver Bonus :P)
Antonio Brown (I feel gonna have break thru year and + kick/punt returner)

TE: Jason Witten
Jeremy Shockey (I feel cam newton gonna use him alot!)

K: Josh Brown (Waited for awhile on kicker)

                                                                        NOW For My Defense!

DLine: SUH!!!!!!!
             Julius Peppers
osi umenyiora (I know injured but when i picked i thought it was a good pick up)

LB: Ray Lewis (I call him the old reliable :P)
       LaMarr Woodley

CB: Charles Woodson
        Terrence Newman
        Antoine Cason

Safety: Eric Berry
             Troy Polamalu

So overall i like considering you get 1 point for 10yrds of kick/punt returns reason why i picked a few of these players. Oh By the way i had the 3rd overall pick and Tom Brady was #1. Cant wait for some football!!!! @!@#! GOOO LIONS~~~~~!!!!

How many teams?

You are missing some star power at WR and RB. Not a single teams #1 receiver. The amount of teams may explain.

DAMN, I forgot about returner yards

I am in that league and as you can see my team will demolish everything it’s path.

Also I had the last pick 16th. And as this is a Keeper league I might have over valued youth.

QB’s
Sam Bradford
Colt McCoy

RB’s
MJD
Beanie Wells
Danny Woohead

TE’s
Antonio Gates
Marcedes Lewis

WR’s
Larry Fitzgerald
Danny Amendola
Michael Crabtree

K
Robbie Gould
Josh Scobee, for some reason the autopilot decieded I need a second Kicker.

Also I have Dexter McCluster as WR/RB

DL
Marcell Dareus
Mario Williams
Richard Seymour, Another autopilot pick, but one I like.

LB
James Laurinaitis
Clay Matthews

CB
Antonio Cromartie
Eric Wright
Justin King, Autopilot pick

I’ve aready droped a pair of Autopilot picks, Rashard Langford and Stevan Ridley. I have the first Waiver priority, and am claiming Tashard Choice and Nick Collins.

I pity the fool!

Don't know the stat system...

But Brady at 3? If it’s 1 point per 10 yds I like it, but top 5 I always go RB.

by -Scott on Sep 6, 2011 9:53 PM EDT reply actions

It's points per completion too

QBs are by far the most valuable position in the league.

by Mavyrk on Sep 6, 2011 10:04 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions

Ahhh that makes much more sense. There's a few nice sleepers on there...

and I never played IDP, so I don’t know how those drafts play out, when who goes where, but there’s some great defensive players there to go with a money QB.

by -Scott on Sep 7, 2011 7:34 AM EDT up reply actions

You're toast.

Blount is a number 2 RB right now, and you have Spiller as the other starter? I hope it’s PPR, otherwise Welker is only average. As an AFC North watcher (go Steelers), Cribbs doesn’t make a big impact as a receiver. Ward will be good for about 700 yards and 5-7 TDs, but you need way more than that, and Brown is going in as our number 3, a spot for which he’ll face a challenge throughout the season from Emmanuel Sanders and Jericho Cotchery. You better hope Brown puts up sick return yardage.

And you better hope Polamalu has an injury free season. I’d be worried about that team.

Also, Gabbert isn’t the starter, McCown is. Don’t know how much longer that will last, but if he’s not playing by Brady’s bye week, you wasted a pick.

He hasn't shown enough for me to be totally confident.

The talent is all there, but I’m wondering if he’s going to hit that second year wall a bit. He exploded last year because no one was ready. Everyone’s ready now.

LB: Patrick Willis, James Harrison
CB: Joe Haden, Aqib Talib + some CB off waivers as depth, cuz the guy I drafted’s on IR

My roster from that league (my team is the inseminators):

QB: Matt Ryan, Alex Smith
WR: Brandon Lloyd, Sidney Rice, Davone Bess, Johnny Knox, Mohammed Massaquoi, Donnie Avery (hope he finds a team haha)
RB: Rashard Mendenhall, Darren Sproles, Ryan Torain, Jacquizz Rodgers, Shane Vereen (hoping at least one of the rookies has a break out year)
TE: Jermichael Finley, Kevin Boss

DL: Justin Smith, Haloti Ngata, Glenn Dorsey
LB: Chad Greenway
CB: Cortland Finnegan, Tramon Williams, Ike Taylor
S: Bernard Pollard

K: Jason Hanson took him in the 6th round haha

Awesome team name...not in your league, but in my work league my team name is 0-16 to 16-0

Inseminators has a much stronger feel to it. Best name in our league would go to either Human Centipede or Trouser Magic.

TB's 2nd back on the depth chart

Is Kregg Lumpkin, an unproven guy in his third year. Their fullback Earnest Graham started his career as a RB and is a capable runner as well. Im not sure how they utilize him nowadays

i didnt do any research or anything loged in with 2mins before draft and just started drafting lol

I like your team alot

Antonio Brown is gonna be a handy guy, we talked about this during the draft. If Chester Taylor plays well your RB’s will be decent. Leon Washington is a good sleeper depending on how many carries he gets behind Lynch and Forsett

The only things I dont like about yours is Josh Cribbs

I would never feel safe starting him…especially with the new kickoff rule

My Team (Backups in parenthesis)

QB: Phillip Rivers (Jay Cutler)
WR: Greg Jennings (A. J. Green)
WR: Malcom Floyd (Greg Little)
RB: Jahvid Best (Marshawn Lynch)
RB: Ladanian Tomlinson (Thomas Jones)
TE: Vernon Davis
WR/RB/TE: Braylon Edwards

K: Connor Barth (Dan Carpenter)

DL: Jarred Allen (Robert Mathis)
DL: Rovert Quinn
LB: Derrick Johnson (Jon Beason)
CB: Antoine Winfield (Bryant McFadden)
CB: Patrick Peterson
S: Yeremiah Bell (Patrick Chung)

Some bastard took Percy Harvin right in front of me, and another got Louis Delmas :P

Anyways I like my chances, like my team.

Major priority on QB’s in this league, not only points per complete, but point loss for incomplete and -6 for a pick six. Also all players have points added for big plays, 40 yard play = 3 extra points, 40 yard TD = 4 extra. Explosion players huge priority. 1 point per 25 return yards so a depth receiver like Hester or Harvin adds a lot of value. Def players get points on TFL +2 and also +1 per 10 return yards on turnovers. So game changers like Woodson or Reed are more valuable, or beast MLB like Willis.

BTW I changed my team name from Evil Smurfs to Best Phillip 4ur Mom.
My team slogan is Jahvid has Rivers of Floyd to deposit for her!

i like Aldon Smith

For franchise. If he pans out, having an LB/DL switch will be very valuable.

I really like how the defensive side of my ball turned out. Most of the projected best-in-positions (LB, CB, S) and some good depth roleplayers for matchup swapping. Wish my RBs were stronger but I feel good about my team.

you and craggt seem to have the strongest teams on yahoo projections

I am a bit behind you two, I had a couple errors in the draft but nothing major. But hten again who knows how injuries will effect things and how the players will actually play.

Let you guys know ahead of time too, that I am going to set draft to static next year

meaning no snaking, meaning that draft will be by record finished and every round will be in the same order instead of reversing order, but I am not messing with it right now. If I have to I will write down the standings and edit the draft in as needed, much like how I manually edited in the schedule to create divisional rivals.

10 team league with RBs weighted slightly

Phillip Rivers
Jamaal Charles
Frank Gore
Dwayne Bowe
Brandon Marshall
Cedric Benson
Brandon Pettigrew
Jason Hanson
DET defense

Julio Jones
Braylon Edwards
Tim Hightower
Danny Amendola
Mark Sanchez
Thomas Jones (insurance policy)

I like my odds right now. Need to decide who to start at the WR/RB position among:

Cedric Benson
Braylon Edwards
Tim Hightower
Julio Jones

Really it comes down to Benson and Braylon since I wouldn’t risk on Julio in week 1 and don’t trust Hightower in Shanahan’s system until I see how he uses him. Thoughts?

by The Boourns on Sep 7, 2011 2:40 AM EDT reply actions

I'd start Cedric week one.

He plays against Cleveland. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Braylon start slow this year.

by Mavyrk on Sep 7, 2011 12:32 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeah...thats where I'm leaning

But Seattle gave up the 3rd most points against wideouts last year and thats who Braylon is playing. Combine that with him having signed only a 1 year deal with the 49ers and he’ll be itching to make an impact to another solid contract.

Benson looked solid against us in pre-season though so who knows…

A guy in my leauge

has a theory of RBs that you need two opening day starters and then like 3 or 4 #2s on your roster. The theory is that by mid season there will be injuries to RBs and one of those #2s will be a starter giving you another option. You have a nice set of #2s and I bet at least one of them is a starter by week 8.

Here is my team from the keeper league that the other guys posted...

My Staff Is No Stiff
-———————————-
QB: Matthew Stafford, Kyle Orton
RB: Mark Ingram, Tim Hightower, Roy Helu, Ben Tate
WR: Vincent Jackson, Percy Harvin, Nate Burleson, Plaxico Burress, Steve Breaston, Eddie Royal
TE:Kellen Winslow
K: David Akers

DL: John Abraham, Jason Babin, Calais Campbell
LB: Brian Urlacher, James Anderson
S: Michael Huff, Roman Harper
CB: Richard Marshall, Charles Tillman, Nate Clements

Yeah, once I decided to make the crazy move on Stafford with the #6 pick...

I had to pick up guys that I felt would break out some at running back because all the really proven RBs were gone. When you have to take some flyers, it is good to take some extras to cover your misses. The Stafford move is just me being certain I have a Lions to root for on my team. I would have taken Megatron but he went before I could pick. Since this is a keeper league I really wanted one Lions that I could root for every week that I would probably keep from season to season.

My draft was last night

12 team PPR. 1 flex RB/WR/TE

QB: Staff, Orton
RB: MJD, LeSean McCoy, Ahmad Bradshaw, Ryan Grant, Danny Woodhead
WR: Brandon lloyd, Kenny Britt, Austin Collie, Antonio Brown, Kenny Britt, AJ Green
TE: Rob Gronk, Grew
K: Gostkowski
D: Green Bay

I am worried about MJD being injured, but he was a steal in the 3rd.
I like to double up on my QB and a pass catcher from the same team. I was targeting Burleson for that, but someone grabbed him a couple spots before me in the 11th so I grabbed Grew in the 12th.

by ATL Lion on Sep 7, 2011 10:18 AM EDT reply actions

thoughts

Have two spots up in the air. My second RB, Jahvid Best or Tim Hightower? Ahmad Bradshaw is my #1. Also, my third WR, Steve Smith (Car) or Devin Hester? This is a non PPR league.

by kdbolt70 on Sep 7, 2011 5:59 PM EDT reply actions

Tim Hightower and Steve Smith.

imo, unless you get return yardage, then maybe Hester.

by Mavyrk on Sep 7, 2011 6:02 PM EDT up reply actions   1 recs

Thanks for the response

We do get 6pts for a return TD, but not for return yardage. I don’t know if it’s worth putting him in there just because of that. We also have a WR/TE flex (no straight TE pos, which I don’t like) So I could either put Hester in there, or Tony Gonzales. I also have Santana Moss in the mix as the #3 or in that flex position. Ugh, I don’t know what to do. Good news is I have Calvin and Andre as my other receivers…

by kdbolt70 on Sep 7, 2011 6:08 PM EDT up reply actions

I'd put Gonzalez in the flex spot

Hester should be reliable depth because IIRC he’s like #2 or #3 on the Bear’s depth chart and Martz likes to air it out sometimes, but without return yardage he’s not worth starting over Steve Smith/Santana Moss/Calvin Johnson/Andre Johnson.

Without PPR I’d stay on the safe side of the Best/Hightower matchup and just ride with Hightower but you may want to depend on the matchups when making your choices, but I like Hightower week 1 at least.

by Mavyrk on Sep 7, 2011 6:14 PM EDT up reply actions

Rather

Just ride with Hightower until we see how much of a factor Best is in our game this year.

by Mavyrk on Sep 7, 2011 6:15 PM EDT up reply actions

Tim Hightower looks like he is going to be a beast this season.

Roy Helu will also get some carries, but Hightower is the perfect back for the Shanahan zone blocking system. He is one cut and up the field. Hightower should be a beast. If you do not have Helu on your bench you should get him because if Hightower gets hurt, Helu will get the carries in his place and he also looks pretty good.

I like Jahvid Best in leagues that place extra value on long runs or do NOT give point per carry. I really think that Best is only going to get between 15 and 20 touches per game. The Lions are going to keep his workload down so that he stays more healthy. In that situation he should be lightning in a bottle. The problem with Best is that he is likely to be inconsistent with the points he gives you because he is going to be heavily dependent on breaking plays to get yards.

I never met him, but he was family to me... R.I.P. Tom Kowalski We will all miss you.

by TuffLynx on Sep 7, 2011 6:43 PM EDT up reply actions

I'm going to disagree with these guys about Hightower

I think Hightower is going to have a good start. The thing is that with his fumble history I think it’s going to get ugly fast for him. I think that by week 4 or so the drama will be starting and by 8 it’ll be resolved as Helu getting the most touches. Shany will probably dick around with Torain or some other back he grew in his lab and diminish reliability for any of them as starters. I like Best to outperform once the season wears on.

My fantasy team

on NFL.com in a paying league…

2 QB

M. Vick
M. Cassel

2 RB

P:eyton Hillis
BenJarvus Green-Ellis

3 WR

Nate Burleson
Desean Jackson
Heinz Ward

1 TE

Jermichael Finley

1 K

Jason Hanson

1 R/W/T

Braylon Edwards

2 DEF

Packers
Lions

Bench

Alex Smith – QB
Ryan Torain – RB
Lance Moore – WR
Chris Cooley – TE
Adam Vinatiri – K
Vikings – DEF

The way my style is, I like to have a backup for every spot. Many don’t find this ideal and the fact that you can drop/pick up at the start of the week to suffice, but I don’t want to have to rely on the waiver. I like to be in full control and have a back up for every spot. I had 3rd pick overall when the league drafted and I opted for Vick instead of Calvin, and before I could get Stafford as my backup, the guy that got Calvin got him, so I went with the Desean/Vick pair and he has Stafford/Calvin, should be interesting.

We will see how this goes!
