Former Lion Turk McBride To Start For New Orleans Saints
Just how great is the Detroit Lions' depth on the defensive line? Defensive end Turk McBride wasn't retained by the Lions because they have so much depth at the position. He played very well for the Lions in 2010, but Detroit let him walk as a free agent and he signed with the New Orleans Saints.
As Bob McGinn points out, McBride is now a starter at defensive end for the Saints, as he is listed ahead of rookie Cameron Jordan on the Saints depth chart.
#Lions didn't have room for DE Turk McBride and let him go UFA Aug. 1 to Saints. The pesky McBride starts in NO. That's how deep Det. DL is.
The Lions will get to go up against McBride and the Saints on Dec. 4 in New Orleans.

i'd say
That I hope he doesn’t hold a grudge and isn’t too fired up against us, but we all know he gives 110% anyways.

I can't imagine why he would hold a grudge
It’s not like we cut him or something. We let him go in the offseason with plenty of time to find another team, and he managed to get a starting job out of it. I can’t see why he would be upset.
Agree with Trysdor.
The Lions gave him a chance to ressurect his career after getting cut by the Chiefs. He played well when he had his chances and now he has a starting job with a contending team. Good for him.
I am sure he wants to play well against the Lions, but I really doubt he is angry with the Lions organization or his teammates.

That's badass
New Orleans already had respectable DE’s before Turk even came to town. Makes me wonder about Flu
Turk alongside Shaun Rogers
That’s be interesting.

Good for Turk
I always liked him and now he gets to show the Saints what a real DE is. Just hopefully not against us.

Way to go, Turk.
Your time here was appreciated and I hope that you do well in your new role! See you later on in the season.

That's awesome for him.
Also awesome for us we can actually say that our backups are good enough to start on good football teams. As opposed to few years ago when we had starters that should be backups on middle of the pack teams.

So true!
I can’t help but wonder where Turk would have fit in with the Lions this year. Would he have beat out KVB, LoJack or Avril? I think he would have been competing for a position with Willie Young at DE. If he would have stayed, instead of leaving in FA, I think he would have been in danger of being cut. That in itself says quite a bit about the depth of the Lions defensive line.

I'd like to have kept Turk.
I think though the Lions knew they were up against the cap and with the development of Willie Young along with the acquisition of Fairly decided that the dollars Turk deserved would be better spent elsewhere. I wish him continued success.
Ah but I was so much older then and younger than right now
Go get 'em Turk
The way the Saints went out last season, they better be coming at the league with a full clip
