Kyle Vanden Bosch Returns To Practice After Day Off
Defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch is no longer on the Detroit Lions' Week 1 injury report. He missed practice on Wednesday, but after practicing on Thursday, he was removed from the injury report.
As it turns out, Vanden Bosch was out on Wednesday simply to rest. This will likely be a regular occurrence throughout the season, according to Jim Schwartz.
"I think just where he is with age, and different things like that, we're going to try to take some wear and tear off of him," Schwartz said. "There probably aren't many Wednesday's he's going to practice over the course of the season."
Running back Maurice Morris and defensive tackle Andre Fluellen, who are dealing with hand injuries, both fully practiced for the second day in a row. Cornerback Alphonso Smith, who is returning from a foot injury, practiced fully after being limited on Wednesday. Offensive tackle Jason Fox and Defensive tackle Nick Fairley, who are also recovering from foot injuries, missed practice again on Thursday.

Not a game. Not a game. Not a, not a, not a game.

unfortunately I woke up to another work day!
but it’s sooooo hard to not be looking towards this weekend!

I like that they have a clear plan for KVB
to keep him healthy and effective. He certainly wouldn’t limit himself, but Schwartz knows how much of an asset he can be and wants to make sure we continue to get valuable snaps from him.
I think we all sleep on KVB’s impact from a production stand point because of his age and the quality of our other guys. But I’m not counting him out to be very good, especially if we split more of his reps with Lo Jack and Willie.
I love the waves concept. I think it make everyone better on the line.

+1
I’ve always been big on kvb. I think this is Lo’jacks year as well. Is there a pill you can take to lose 2 days? If so ill call out of work now. The anticipation is killing me. This will be a very telling game. In other news the madden simulations have us losing, but we all know they are down on the lions anyway. EA must be full of fan boys.

ahhh the ol' take a pill and lose 2 days routine
takes me back to the 80s. Good times… good times…. from what I remember!

The KVB Plan & The Waves
This week has been too long already… waiting for the Packers and the Saints, to see what the competition really has; something to take your mind off of the gnawing anticipation of Lions/Bucs Part II. Will there be a Part III in January, and will it be at Ford Field next time? I’m glad the schedule worked out this way… back to the site where the nightmare ended last year, to open the 2011 season, where Detroit knocked out the hopes of Tampa Bay, and our own began stirring. Both teams believe that they can rise to take their respective divisional crowns, and this game could hold playoff implications as the season unfolds. The matchup did for Tampa Bay in 2010, and this year, Detroit is in that equation as well. I’m going to hold comment on the Packer defensive weaknesses for now; other than stating that our unit has to know that they can be better overall.
Without question, the Buccaneers will be looking for payback, in a crucial game for both of these playoff hopefuls; the Bucs sporting a more balanced offense, with the Lions facing them this time with Matthew Stafford leading an offense with more depth, along with a defense which has matured, and added new talent to the mix. I believe in this coaching staff. I don’t know what to believe as far as whether the defense will dominate more, or whether our passiing game will? KVB has infected Suh, and Suh has infected Williams, Avril, Young, SLH; infected with a nastiness which will produce that FEAR that they want to invoke on opponents, with Lojack, Fluellen, and Fairley all eager to join in, as well as the LB corps and the secondary. I see “The Blitz” becoming more of a successful staple of our defense, and a defense which causes confusion and mistakes by opposing QBs. I believe our OL will give Matthew the time he needs, to show him to be the better surgeon over Josh Freeman. One game-at-a-time; this one the most important so far.
I can’t recall a hungrier feeling for the start of a Lions’ season opener, nor how long the wait for this Sunday kickoff has been this week; having been a suffering Lions fan for over 50 years. I can’t wait to see our 2011 Lions unleased. We are now 1 point underdogs, but frankly, I can’t see anything less than a 6 point Lions victory.

good points
especially on the blitz. I think some have assumed that the blitz will be faded to black. But I see a similar ratio as last year, and we will see it more in certain games depending on matchups. Gun personally loves to blitz and while what makes this D special is not having to, being able to blitz more effectively on our own terms is what will be too tempting for Gun not to dial up at times. Spievey’s play should free up Delmas a little bit to blitz. I also like Durant and Tulloch as blitzers more than Palmer and Carpenter last year…as long as Houston and Wright hold down the fort like we’re hoping, I could see some havoc being reaked by timely blitzes sprinkled in (especially on below average or new QBs).
And yeah, this has to be the longest week ever record in the time of man! lol.

with any luck
The front four will be able to be disruptive just by themselves. We can use our depth in the d line to our advantage. Turk wasnt going to start here so he went to new Orleans and is starting there. That speaks to the immense depth we have. Rotate them out, keep them fresh and the will dominate just by wearing down an o line. Hopefully by the time our o line starts to gas, we will have a comfortable lead and can just grind out the clock. Those things plus stuffing the run and keeping freeman honest.

Blitzing intelligently and selectively is the important thing
Gotta disguise it well, because Aaron Rodgers feeds off the blitz. If the Lions don’t do it right, they’ll end up on the wrong end of some 42-30 games.
No slogans. Just win!!!
