Blech.

by motown313 on Jan 1, 2012 1:54 PM EST reply actions

Sure is needed

but the run D is bad. Is Avril as one dimensional as he appears? Speed rush to the outside, by the QB 5 yds b/c his path is the same. If the QB takes a 7 step drop, he’s got em, if not, oh well.

His run tackling is pathetic. He doesn’t get paid for that apparently.

But he was down!

Although I can already hear Mike Pereira spewing some garbage about how he wasn’t down because a football move wasn’t performed within one tenth of a second after the catch and because it’s a full moon 10 days after the solstice that’s why it’s a fumble.

but when they score a td they say fuck it were gonna decide it ourselves. Then Nelson scores a questionable TD and they rule it a td instead of going to the booth. This has been the worst officiated game all year and it’s only the first half. Unreal.

He only got 15 steps in-bounds before being tackled. Clearly an incomplete pass.

I won't ever get sick of the fumble jokes

Keep them coming. “Well, the Lions RB was tackled, and rolled on the ground for six minutes, but you could never see the ball. So, when the Packers’ DB picked it up and returned it for a TD, the call on the field was TD. It will be tough to reverse it”.

“Scheffler only got three feet in bounds, then went out of bounds and dropped the ball. But b/c the ball didn’t hit the ground, it was batted back in play by a Packer DL coach, which kept the ball live. It was recovered by a Packer DL’ man, so it will be Packers ball. It’s too bad the Lions are out of challenges”.

No I'm an adult

That doesn’t need to resort to childish name calling to get my point of view across.

Please mention more than ONE time this millenium (that means since 2000) that he has hit a FG that would be consoidered clutch (as in, tie or give Lions lead in last 5 minutes of game). I can think of the obvious one – and its the only one.

Also, if you were beyond about 6th grade, and aware of how football works, in 2006, you were pulling for the Lions to lose that game and have the #1 pick.

by MSUDersh on Jan 1, 2012 3:00 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

The fact that the Lions as a team haven't had more than a handful of meaningful games in Hanson's tenure

isn’t in any way reflective of Hanson’s supposed inability to hit key field goals as your post implies.

Despite the general mediocrity of this team in the past 20 years, Hanson has hit the most 50+ yard field goals of any kicker in NFL history. He’s also 4th or 5th in scoring and has some of the best accuracy stats of any kicker of his generation.

Longevity is nice

And is the reason for those records. But like I asked, when does he hit in the clutch? Nobody knows bc it doesn’t happen, ever.

Also, guess which kicker has the lowest % of touchbacks this season??? One guess. . .

Bottom line is we’re going to have to agree to disagree here. He’s scored a lot of points and for that I’m thankful, but he is long past his prime, and there are plenty of younger guys with much more lively legs that can take his place.

Mark my words, this is his last season as a Lion, he got 2,000 & several records, now that he has those he’s gone.

this is exactly the type of game I didn't want to see today.

For all intensive purposes, we should be tied or up by 3. Instead, we’re down by 5.
