The Lions couldn't overcome their awful defense and some awful officiating today. Sour way to finish the regular season.

he burned them because he had to

I don’t get this argument at all. the reason he didn’t have one is because the refs were messing up all day so he had to use them early….. he still would’ve had one for the titus catch is they had gotten the second one right.

by nuftjedi on Jan 1, 2012 5:07 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah, he didn't really 'burn' them.

Now not the same old lines and just the same old lame calls from the referee’s. Anyone who isn’t either a fan of some other team, or a hater of the lion has to admit that the refs blew at least a half-dozen calls today that were critical to the outcome of the game. Granted the Lions defense went off today but many of them are hurt and/or nursing injuries and trying to play through them. When you take into consideration how banged up our secondary is you have to wonder how this game when it turned out had the defensive line put some pressure on Flynn today.

do away with limited amount of challenges

I think Thom Brennanman brought that idea up during the game. Then again, if the officials, WHO ARE PAID TO DO THEIR JOB IN THE FIRST PLACE, we wouldn’t have had that problem with that no TD for Titus today.

I meant because we are blaming the refs.

Yeah, they sucked [as usual] but when you give up 45 points have four turnovers, miss a FG, drop a sure TD, there is a lot of blame to go around.

I am just pissed right now at the defensive side of the team. They could not protect a lead, and kept putting all the pressure on the offence to score TDs.

That being said, the offence was nowhere near perfect against a GB defence that was weak all year and short of their two biggest playmakers. DAMN!

Still, 41 points should be enough to win most games.

"I’m sorry for all the people who want us to run the ball 40 times a game, but we’re going to put the ball in No. 9’s hands and he’s going to make plays for us like he did today," Lions coach Jim Schwartz said. Amen to that Jim!

by NorthLeft12 on Jan 1, 2012 5:32 PM EST up reply actions

I am not solely blaming the refs, they didn’t “lose” the game for the Lions, but they were just too involved and it changed the way the game went thus leading to a lot of other things to happen.

you can’t really deny that they had a major impact.

by nuftjedi on Jan 1, 2012 5:33 PM EST up reply actions

Well consider this

Missed call on Stefan Logan turnover
Missed call on Jordy Nelson muffed punt
Missed call on Titus Young touchdown

That is one more possession for the Packers, one less possession for the Lions, and 4 points off the board. The refs absolutely took this game for the Lions. Personally I think they need to be investigated for game fixing.

Yes they did lose us the game.

There were four particularly egregious calls which cost us all of our challenges, four points, and two possessions (one of which would have probably allowed us to run out the clock) None of those calls were even close to being correct.

Now, they weren’t the only reason we lost, there was a lot of bad play, especially on defense. But they were definitely a necessary factor in that loss. You change any one of those four calls to the correct ones and the Lions win this game.

Loss overshadows QB brilliance

seriously both QB’s today were outstanding. The refs and poor defense are going to steal the spotlight. Stafford reached a mega milestone today, but it doesn’t matter because of the loss. how sad.

by epaddy on Jan 1, 2012 4:56 PM EST reply actions

at least it's just one game

But I’m not going to say the refs taking away the touchdown from Titus Young was the deciding factor. The defense couldn’t slow up Matt Flynn.

Wide 9

You want to know why teams run all over us? You want to know why it’s easy to single out blocking assignments? The wide 9 is the culprit. Everyone knows were not going to blitz, and today was a perfect execution of exploiting our deficiencies. We can’t risk blitzing cause our coverage sucks. The wide 9 is a band-aide for poor defense, and it showed today.

If you want to rant take a look at the game tape and point to the failures in composure on our team that cost us wins. Well lets take a look then

McCarthy inherited a team led by Favre and had the luxury of letting Aaron Rogers wait in the wings and develop. That team did nothing until Dom Capers defense got there to give that offense the ball back. McCarthy may be better than Schwartz but if so it is not by much.

My point, is that Schwartz is a lot closer to elite than you are giving him credit for.

Bill Belichick is nothing without Tom Brady. PS they have been eliminated in the first round of the playoffs for several years in a row now.

Sean Peyton is not much without Brees. PS they got eliminated in the first round by Seattle last year, a severe upset. They also got beat by the Rams this year. Peyton has shown a propensity for letting his team under achieve at times.

Mike Tomlin is another coach that was handed a winner. A stacked defense and probably the most underrated QB in the NFL. That team goes nowhere without Rothlisburger, Polamalu and thier line backers, along with Dick Lebeau too.

Sorry, but once you get past McCarthy I cannot give anything to any of those other guys over Schwartz. They had better players is pretty much what it came down to.

Schwartz now has that elite QB, a young and developing one, but he will get better, and help to make Schwartz look better and better as well.

Unlike Favre and Aaron Rogers Stafford has no elite receiving corps to work with. Sure he has Calvin. But when we were feilding receivers like Bryant Johnson and Derrick Williams last season could you really say that he even had an NFL receiving corps to work with? It is in development but not quite there yet. One more year.

Stafford also did not have the elite defense to help support him like Tom Brady did. No Willie McGinst, no Richard Seymore, no Vince Wilfolk, no Ty Law, no Teddy Brusky, no Mike Vrable, etc etc. The defense is coming along, but last year we were starting guys off the street like Vinny Circiu and Rockey Boiman, guys like Can’t Cover Brown and plenty of guys that are special teams, role players, and depth on the current roster. It is coming along, but it is not there yet. Give it another year or two.

What Brees has had compared to Stafford is disgusting. Receiver, running game, offensive line, and a defense that can provide pressure and take the ball away. Too much to cover here, I am not sure that we can catch up with the Saints, IMO they are the best team in the NFL, but we can certainly compete with them and close the gap to the point where it comes down to who has the ball last.

Big Ben had a running game, along with a top tier defense. We have a ways to go to give those kind of weapons to Stafford.

My point is, all of those teams won because they have an elite QB with enough complimentary talent around them. It has nothing to do with the coach, and everything to do with the talent on the field.

I wont even dignify much of a response on the Harbaughs. Jim has proven nothing yet and John has a team that cant win on the road. In fact the Ravens have lost to several non playoff teams this year. At lest the Lions only lose to good teams.

I really can’t stand his demeanor. He’s the type of cocky prick that has always rubbed me the wrong way. If he wasn’t our coach I’d hate him just for that…

The thing is tho, despite his personality flaws, I think he’s got good talent for the position and is getting better. I believe the players respect him first and foremost, and that’s important. Granted tho, I still believe his insane outburst on Harbaugh lost him a certain degree of respect as much as perhaps it got him some too.

Officials definitely effected the game, which they should not

Some of those officials today need to not be back next year. That being said, as Tom Lewand said before the game, the better team would win today. The Lions have some pieces, they are a dangerous team, but they are not quite over the hump yet.

More discipline is needed on this team yet. Sorry Matt Stafford, not everyone on this team is mentally tough. I still see plenty of brain farts on the field on a regular basis. More quality depth to push the starters is needed in the draft before we can be a true powerhouse. At this point we are more like a team that needs to get hot and play near our best to win. Anything less and we lose to backups.

That may sound harsh, but it is a hell of a lot better than what any Lions fan has had to root for in a long, long time.

If the Lions are going to go anywhere in the playoffs that front needs to get back on track and help cover up some of the issues with a banged up secondary that is still a player or two away from being able to hang with teams that have elite receivers. Since we are going to be facing the Saints in the first game, that line better be hungry, real hungry, like 5 sack plus type of game hungry, or Brees will pick us apart.

Phonz is done in Detroit

Did you see him try to shove the ball to Schwartz? Like he was saying see what I can do or something. Schwartz totally ignored him, total cold shoulder, that is not good. To make matters worse, he was going at it with Gunny later. Kid seems to have issues with playing within a scheme if you ask me. Same kind of crap we seen from Phillip Buchanon. You can have all the talent in the world, but if your not a team player, that will take coaching, you will be out fo the NFL and fast. There is a reason why we only had to give up a 7th round pick for the guy.

I am rooting for him, I like him on a personal level. But I think he may have burned some bridges in this game with his attitude and mouth.

I don't agree with your reading of him giving the ball to Schwartz

That play happened right after the blown fumble call that Schwartz was so epically pissed off about.

I’m guessing Schwartz probably said something to his defense like “GET ME THE F**KING BALL BACK!” and that’s what Phonz was doing when he went to hand him the ball……but Schwartz was still screaming at the officials about the fumble.

Angelo: Right….so anyways Jay, I’m sure you understand that we needed to make this move and I wanna wish you the best of luck.

Cutler: (Swoops bangs out of eyes by throwing his head back) Whatever, I don’t need this team or you.

It could be, always hard to read those situations without actually having the audio or being one of the parties involved.

But there is a definite reason that Brandon McDonald finished that game and it had nothing to do with Phonz being injured.

I think he stayed in the game, I think the play you are thinking of was the throw to Jordy Nelson

Phonz didn’t even contest it, and he was in good position to. Personally I think his mouth kept running and the attitude got worse as the game went on. Looked like a meltdown to me.

D-line play has been horrble the last 4 weeks.

we have not been putting much pressure on QB’s lately, and i am about tired of it. we all know our secondary is suspect. but the great D-line play had been taking care of that earlier in the season. D-line gets back to hitting QB’s, secondary plays better. just sayin.

+100 for accountability

The league needs to hold officials accountable for their bad calls on the field, they could also do a rating system which rewards officials for correct calls.

But like you said, it wont happen for obvious reasons.

by mhout005 on Jan 1, 2012 5:26 PM EST up reply actions

exactly

you can change a called td to an incompletion, but not an incompletion to a td?

it makes absolutely no sense

by nuftjedi on Jan 1, 2012 5:23 PM EST up reply actions

Brian Billick view on reviewing the plays

He stated that they should just get rid of challenges altogether as they have the technology to have some folks dedicated to reviewing the plays upstairs and if they see something that needs to be reviewed or overturned they could communicate that down to the officials on the field.

Another things needs to happen is that the officials need to get better and the NFL needs to hire officials full time. Hopefully that would help.

by mhout005 on Jan 1, 2012 5:24 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah. They do that at MAC schools.

Must be too pricey for the $10 billion per year NFL or Goodell is crapping his pants at the idea of upsetting his oh-so competent officials.

The entire challenge system is dumb. Turns getting calls correct into strategy. And it got worse once the refs were told to “let the play go, since it could be fixed on replay unlike when you blow the whistle.” Well, actually, no it can’t, because there are finite # of chances to review.

If all sports fandom is a form of emotional gambling, football is poker and hockey is Russian roulette.

what's wrong with reviewing all scoring plays period?

IMO, if they are not using reviews to correct mistakes then get rid of reviews all together. Not using the review with common sense is just a waste of time. Refs bad calls just takes the momentun away from the game.

by Honalulublue on Jan 1, 2012 5:32 PM EST up reply actions

they do review all scoring plays

however they only define those as plays called as such on the field.

a TD can be overturned, but they don’t review a potential TD that was called incomplete and that is a major shortcoming.

This loss is on our Defense. Plain and simple.

We can all bitch and moan about the bad officiating, but you can’t……..CAN’T let a qb make some of those plays ( let alone a backup). Now Matt Flynn had a great game I’m not taking away anything from him, but our game plan was absolute shit on defense. Bad calls, no calls and stupid f*ck*in idiot calls—-we can’t use those as excuses. The ONLY excuse was that we allowed their offense to put up that many points.

ok guys

I see a lot of people saying don’t blame the refs…. I won’t blame them, but they made a couple Fucked up calls! 1.) Stephan was down on his back no ball movement at all and the refs called gb ball, 2.) Scheffler was down, refs called gb ball again, forced challenge, shouldn’t have had to use it if the call was made correctly! 3.) Titus had ball,2 feet in the endzone! So no they didn’t cause the loss, but they certainly did contribute to it! Anybody with 2……even 1 eye saw those calls were wrong! Schwartz had to use 2 challenges on calls that were so obvious my gf saw them and she knows absolutely Shit about football or sports period and could care less why I was screaming at the tv for 3 hours…..but even she saw those horrible calls! And we need db’s but those calls were critical in there timing and why they even needed to be challenged! It is what it is,so new Orleans is up next!

Can't Just Blame the refs, but...

I know we cannot just blame the refs for this game, but they sure did not do much to help us. With Staff’s numbers, this game should not have been close but for whatever reason our defense looked amateur which means if they play the same way, Brees is bound for a record performance next week. Anyone want to take bets on the over-under for offense pass interference next week? I last read it was 3.5.

One person I wanna see gone for sure next year is Stephan Logan

I really liked him in 2010. But I’m so SICK of him fair catching it within our own 5 yard line. How stupid can you be? Why wouldn’t you just give it a chance to bounce into the endzone and get the offense out to the 20? Really, there isn’t much difference between them starting at the 5, and at the 1-3…. It’s definitely worth the risk of letting it bounce into the endzone.

oh I agree with being happy about making the playoffs

no matter what happens Saturday I think this season was a success, but today did put a sour taste in my mouth and showed how much work this team still needs. A game like today is a game a team serious about winning a SB has to win, you have to be aware of the bigger picture and not simply just making the playoffs.

I hope this year can be used as a learning process to that fact.

Wright has had a bad groin all year long, he struggles with any change of direction by a receiver in thier route at all because he cant properly plant to redirect himself. Houston is struggling but he is a scrapper, he will bounce back. I actually like McDonald out there a lot more than Phonz. He is a much better tackler and hopefully he can knock the rust off fast. IMO our needs are as follows

Center of the future. Sorry Dom, your not young anymore, your undersized, and you take stupid penalties, too many for a veteran of your tenure in the league.

Tackle of the future. We need another tackle that can help to push Backus and replace him in a year or two. Jason fox may be the answer, but he also may not be.

Running Back depth, because we seem to need to go 6-8 deep on this team at the position, every year we are severely depleted by injuries.

Big Man Receiver Depth, we need another guy who can go up and get the ball in the end zone or within 20 yards. I like all of our starters, but I am not sold on Stovall.

Premier Corner / Nickel. We need one more secondary guy to play slot our outside so that guys like McDonald and Phonz are pushed to depth or off the roster.

Return Specialist. Stefan Logan has been a difference maker this year, for the opposition. groan

Other than that it is all gravy, but I would like to see them invest mainly in the offensive line and defensive secondary with their high picks, probably along with another receiving threat. I really like that Fleener kid from Stanford at tight end. It don’t HAVE to be a wide out. But we do need one more big man out there when we are inside the 20.

But a guy that is like 6’ 2" at least and can go compete for it. Similar to Titus really, just a little bigger so he can gun on special teams or, if that don’t fit the role perhaps be a return specialist.

more the merrier indeed, if you can get them

As it stands now he’s our 2nd best deep threat tho. I see what you’re saying you want in the draft, and that would rock if it didn’t take a high pick. G’luck on that one…

Maybe we can get lucky and snag Lester Jean from the Texans if he goes to PS lol. All in all tho I think WR, and TE, are very low on the scale of need.

I feel like

this loss will be good for the team come playoff time. Based on what I have seen from them this whole season, this team has a lot of pride (especially the defense) and they will not like hearing all week about the horrors Brees will visit upon them next weekend, and all the other crap the media is going to spew about them for the next week. This team plays with an incredible amount of passion and pride, and I feel like they will show it next weekend against the Saints, and give Brees and the rest of that team everything they can handle.

Another was the backup QB for the Packers hang almost 500 on a Lions D with everything to play for.

The Lions still have to earn the street cred with officials

Official Bias is based on 3 things
1) Star Power: Obviously some players like Revis and Woodson get away with PI and it will not get called. As the Lions continue to develop players, we should develop some star power and benefit of calls. You saw some today with Stafford. But we still have a ways to go there.

2) Pedigree of program: There is no doubt that perpetual playoff teams that are perceived as “winners” get the benefits of officiating.

3) Home Filed

BOYCOTT THE NFL

The NFL will not hire professional referees because they’re too cheap! I don’t care what they say teams like the lions have been perennial victims of lousy officiating for years, so you can’t tell me that part of it doesn’t have something to do with these amateur officials being fans other teams. I think we all should write to the NFL front offices in New York and demand they hire professional officials are also they will be boycotted by NFL fans across the league.

-We need a big time CB for sure and added depth
-We need another stud LB, Levy hardly did much this year, a big non factor IMHO
-OL help and depth is crucial moving forward
-A returner that doesn’t kill us with fair catches and fumbles

Of course depth in all positions but those are the things we need drastiacally

by SanDiegoMick on Jan 1, 2012 6:04 PM EST reply actions

Im good with my starting CB's

But we need depth there.
Levy is alright and Im fine with him for another year however if a good value player falls to us in the draft ex. Fairley than we get one.
Im hoping we trade up for Stanford Guard David DeCastro.
And yes how about a 5-7th round reciever/rb that can catch/run and return kicks and punts.

RD 2: CB / LT / C / TE
RD 3: WR / RB / TE / C
RD 4: C / G / WR / RB / TE
RD 5: C / G / WR / RB / TE

Not sold on Shef or Heller

For their role they are good sure. But why settle for one elite tight end when you can have two. Just look at what the Pats have with Gronk and Hernandez. Scheffler disappears for portions of the season, not just portions of the game. Heller is a good blocker, but everyone knows it is likely a run play if he is in there and there is no way he is making a reception past 10 yards on a regular basis. As much as I like him, he is very one dimensional and limits the offense when he is on the field. Both tight ends behind Pettigrew can be upgraded.

if we lose in the first round and all the other lower record teams lose in the first round. The best pick in the draft we can get right now is 25th.

If he is a good value for the pick, absolutely. I expect him to slide into the 2nd round, possibly even the 3rd or 4th. Now keep in mind that the Lions will be picking relatively late in the rounds, so if they can pick him with a late 2nd I am all for it. Granted I would not put the first round pick on him.

Skill

See, now I think this team has plenty of skill. Other than starting to replace OLD on our O-line, our offense should be set for years to come.

The defensive problems all swing back to our ineffective d-line play. The scheme they have run this year putting the ends wide has really left our LB’s having to cover a rediculous amount of space with no help vs the run on the interior, all the while getting almost no pressure on the opposing QB. No pressure on the QB leaves the corners on an island to which in the NFL now means either completed pass or PI.

I'm not sure (so I might be talking out of my ass here)

But I think it might have been a relatively recent change (like 10 years or so).

Personally, I like it (and not just because the Packers are the 1 seed this year). It’s a way to reward the team that earned that spot.

With a fixed playoff tree and byes for the top two teams, you would wind up with scenarios where the #2 seed has an easier first game than the #1. If you gave the #1 team the winner of the 3-6 matchup, you’d set up them up to play the best team from the wild-card round. And if you give them the winner of the 4-5 matchup, you’d wind up with years where the #2 plays the “worst” playoff team while the #1 plays a “better” team.

Angelo: Right….so anyways Jay, I’m sure you understand that we needed to make this move and I wanna wish you the best of luck.

Last 10 years or so...

Ha! That explains why I didn’t know about it. Never had a reason to follow the playoffs in depth during that time.

I think when a team pulls an upset in the WC round they should be rewarded for that. The playoffs are more important than the regular season. I see where you’re coming from though.

to hell with that
  1. and #2 seeds already get a extra week off.

That is more than enough. there needs to be another two teams in the playoffs to even it out. No more first round byes.

Only thing to worry about is the Saints

If they can beat them in NO, they can play with anyone.

by Arrogant on Jan 1, 2012 6:31 PM EST up reply actions

They CAN play with anyone.

But they don’t. Coaching is the problem, head and coordinators. Our defensive schemes are horrid. This wide ‘9’ scheme they are running this year is killing us. Just as much as the offensive schemes have killed us (down by 2 touchdowns? guess we can dial it up now).

by Incantrix on Jan 1, 2012 6:35 PM EST up reply actions

I agree

The wide 9 is the biggest joke there is. The Eagles run it as well and being from PA I get to watch pretty much every Eagles game. They have the same problems we have on defense. Teams just gashed them up the middle all year long.

We need to scrap it and new scheme. It must be a Tenessee thing because Jim Washburn is from there and so is Schwartz.

and the Eagles have a ton of defensive talent and look how well they work

We didn't run it last year.

They changed to it this year. Basically it leaves your DT’s on an island to be stunted to one side. Allows the DE’s to push upfield and wide running lane to either the left or right.

by Incantrix on Jan 1, 2012 6:53 PM EST up reply actions

We need to go back to a base 4-3.

Look at the success we had last year, even in a losing season.

What they did is basically say to themselves, hmmm, our best player is a DT. How can we take him out of the game.

Typical of this coaching staff. How many touches do you give Kevin Smith compared to Pettigrew or CJ.

by Incantrix on Jan 1, 2012 6:56 PM EST up reply actions

Haha

On a similar note to what I’ve said with the Wayne Fontes/Jim Schwartz comparision.

Good ole Wayne loved to do the same thing. Barry Sanders scored 21 TD’s last year. Fk NO! His ass needs to come out of the game in the red zone.

by Incantrix on Jan 1, 2012 7:02 PM EST up reply actions

Man that was tough

I had to step away for a few hours because I was just dissapointed. This loss felt different because I wasn’t mad, it just felt like a letdown. It just seemed that the defense didn’t take Flyn seriously and thought it would be a cakewalk.

One thing I can take away from this season is that Matthew Stafford is awesome and just keeps getting better. I can’t get over how many times he just puts the team on his back when we need a drive. Going to NO won’t be easy but thankfully we can score with them.

by RedeemedLions on Jan 1, 2012 6:40 PM EST reply actions

We Scored More Points Right?

And still lost with the best Packers refs they have ever had.

by Brandon Kish on Jan 1, 2012 6:44 PM EST reply actions

Technically the Lions scored as many points as the Packers, the refs just decided they better take 4 off the board

Think about just that one missed call, and the Lions are driving at the end for a winning FG not the winning TD. It makes a big difference in Staffords decision making process on whether he takes a wide open check down or forces a ball into coverage down the field.

Seeding

Well we most likely would’ve had to play New Orleans in the second round anyways if we had the 5th seed. So if we lose to them in the wild card game just consider we would’ve lost in the second round. This way means a higher drafting sport. The Superbowl is all or nothing, if you don’t win it all, you kind of screw yourself in the draft.

by Lionsfan012 on Jan 1, 2012 6:52 PM EST reply actions

Well... if anything shows from todays game

the Lions can contend in a shootout with ANYONE. Yes we got torched bigtime today by Flynn, but if Rodgers was playing, it would likely be the same. I like our chances in New Orleans, hopefully the officiating is BETTER, that is one of the BIGGEST things that screwed the Lions today

Bitch,Bitch and Bitch

That’s all I’ve read on this thread so far, yeah we hot f*ck on some plays. Well you know what guys Levy had a face mask to win the game for us and all I heard was we had it coming because we’ve had so many bad plays called agasint us.

Guys our defence pissed that game away, we allowed to let a back up QB shred us for the win.

That said we have some good points to look forward to playing the Saints next game, Stafford and the offence seem to be peaking at the right time. I know we are gonna have to play a perfect game to win. Trust me I’ve been saying this we needed to win the GB game the second we had a chance to lock up the the 5th seed. But bitching is not gonna solve a f*cking thing right now.

Saints here we come, were really playing with house money right now so f*ck you and I hope you bring your A-game when we play because if anybody can hany points on you like you can put them up it’s us…

See you next week…

that's exactly right

it’s just easier on some people if they can find something outside of the team to blame the loss on. To simply say, “the D sucked today and that was key in us losing” would hit home and be uncomfortable.

Our time will come, soon and in the future

Looking at this team, their not that far away. They still need to learn and not continue to suffer from “shoot themself in the foot” itis. Beliving your as good as the big boys, that will come too. It’s all a growing process. Even the most blind fan can’t argue that you can’t see progress. Obviously they need help in certain areas personell wise too. But when they add those pieces, talent wise, they will be at or near the level of the Saints and GB. All in all they fulfilled my expectations for them this year. At the begining we all pretty much knew that secondary depth was suspect and when you add injuries to that formula it’s never a good result..I honestly belive this team can play with anyone in the NFL. In 3 years they have caught up to most of the teams in the NFL… which makes a loss like this one so frustrating. You can see the potential.

Here's the way I see it...

Yeah it sucks that 1) the refs cheated Titus out of one hell of a TD catch, not saying that it would have been the deciding factor in the game because our D still played like crap and let a 2nd string QB embarrass them!.. and 2) that we have to go into NO where they have been playing good football all year…but on the other hand we would eventually end up playing SF or NO whether we had to play Dallas / NYG in the first round anyways, and there’s no guarantee that we would have beaten Dallas or NY either…were it not for one of the multiple come backs we had this year Dallas could have won that game. But all-in-all my point is that if we have to play NO anyways, lets go in there now while we are still somewhat fresh rather than another game beating up our players even more and spank their asses on their home turf…get our revenge…and the move one step closer to going back into GB for the NFC championship game :) Lets face it, stupid penalties beat us the last time we played NO…not the Saints…so as long as we don’t beat ourselves this time around we will be JUST FINE!!!

i'm thinking Tebow will find out

it takes time to conduct this study tho so we might have to wait until next year

Jesus Christ

Some of you (most of you?) are completely over-reacting.

We’re supposed to be the little brother in this equation. We walked into their stadium and went punch for punch with the best offense in the NFL.

The game came down to who made the fewest mistakes, which is really all we can ask for in a tough road game against a (then) 14-1 team. We had some drops. We had some shitty calls that cost us. And, well, we played as poor of defense as the Packers did.

The good points:

1. We bounced back from each and every shitty call.
2. We bounced back from the plays that didn’t go our way.
3. We fought for 60 minutes.
4. We put up 41 fucking points IN THEIR HOUSE in the wind and cold.
5. There is not one team of the other 11 in the playoffs that wants to see us on the other side of the field. We got fucked every which way and still almost pulled out a win in magical goddamn Green Bay.
6. They gave us their A game from a lot of players. They won. Congrats, Packers. We now have 3 hours of game tape on how to stop you in two weeks.

See you all back on the bandwagon after the Saints drop like a prom dress.

sugar coating FTW

We went against the best offense in the league that was without their Probable MVP QB.

We made a backup QB look like a league Wide MVP. So either it is their system or our defense is atrocious.

I think its a little bit of both

They still had Finley, Nelson, Driver, and Jones and they clearly have a good OC that calls the right plays. Our secondary is very banged up and our Dline wasn’t getting the right pressure. That forced us to blitz with our LB’s which meant more 1 v 1 matchups.

I Agree

What a compleatly different thread this would have been had our last drive resulted in a score.

All this talk and not one word about our upcoming foe, THE SAINTS

Are we not talking about them because we know the mountain we must climb. Here’s the thing we can beat the Saints, but it must mean we play a perfect game.

A game much like our Packers game on T-day, but we have to take advantages of what we get. And sad to say that has been our downf fall, pissing away chances to put points on the board when it counts the most.

It’s all house money now, we had a chance for Cowgirls/Gaints. we could of had a very strong chance of winning that game who ever we played. Vs the Saints at home is near impossible, offence will have to be perfect, Defence will have to perfect. But I feel the Falcons would of been crushed agaisnt them, we however can put up points with the best of them.

I feel it will be a close game, much closer than all the BS espn and nfl people will call it, it will be a tight game in the 4th quarter. But in the end we will probably come up just a little short making this loss agaisnt the Packers that much more sour. Here’s to Schwartz getting this team ready.

PS- Just because our defence sucked this bad in the last game I do think we will cause the Saints a few more problems in this game… IT’S GONNA BE A LONG WEEK…

question

who was the lion player that almost got his back bent backwards today? and who was the GB player who did it? I know there was one engaging the lion low, and another GB player came in and tried to break his back it looked like.

PS Tuff and I were screaming at the TV for a hit on a defenseless receiver on that one

Of course, only Packers and Saints get those kind of flags though

Stafford really had 8 Touchdowns today.

Everyone keeps talking about the Titus Young TD that we got robbed on, but, dont forget about the other 2 TDs that almost were…

Titus Young diving catch in the endzone – but, he couldnt hang onto the ball. He makes that catch 95 times out of 100.

Calvin Johnson wide open in the middle of the field and Stafford threw it slightly behind him and Calvin dropped it. Calvin makes that catch 99 times out of 100.

Stafford is just sick (in a good way).

I expect the D to play better next week. If Stafford plays next week like he did today – they will not only keep up with the Saints – they will blow them out.

Barring injury – Stafford is on a projected path to go down as the best QB in the history of the NFL.

5000 yards – 41 TDs in his 1st full season playing.

F*@# Mark Sanchez.

we can beat new orleans!

look,ok we got screwed by he refs despite what some people in here feel! a fact is a fact…..whether it cost us the game or not is irrelevant! the refs made horible calls and that is a fact! we can beat no,they got beat by the rams,so they are indeed beatable! they lost to the rams, bucs, and gb…..so yes p.o.d.,the saints can be beat! our offense is on par with their offense at this point in the season imo,we have to step up on our d….in that sunday night game this year we beat them up in that game til the dumb penalties started to happen! if we can play without dumb penalties we will beat the all mighty saints! they can’t stop our offense,if we get to brees his record shows he gets happy feet back there, and if you remember back 2 years ago we played them real tuff! we just have to play a complete game,no dropped balls,no dumb personal fouls,no stupid penalties, great play calling….we’ve done all this in 3 or 4 games this year so we are very capable of doing it again…. our fate is in our own hands! new orleans is one big hit on brees away from being the colts…..who’s no’s back up qb again? one hit away! remember that….any given sunday or (saturday in our case) anything can happen!

Wow, the Packers site is tough reading

Their entire community must be made up of 15 year old girls. There are officially no man cards left in Green Bay.
