Around SBN: Trent Richardson Interviews Fellow Brown Brandon Weeden

New Lions fan here

hey what's going on my fellow lions fans? i just wanted to say hello to the site and let all the regulars know who i am. i currently live in TN and have been a titans fan for a few years now only through default. i was never a jeff fisher fan, so when he left i was kind of glad and hoping they would go outside the organization and grab a good coach. unfortunately they promoted their o line coach to head coach, which i wasn't too happy with. So this season i decided to follow the titans of course, but also the lions cuz i was born in Michigan. the more i watched them play the more i liked them. and it helped that i liked jim schwartz and how passionate he was as a coach. so last week i decided to become a lions fan, this brought me to watch other michigan teams now, seeing as i was born there. so i am new to all of detroit's sports teams. and although football is number one in my heart, i have started gaining interest in basketball, baseball, and even a little hockey as of late. i have never had favorite teams in those sports so i decided to go with michigan teams all the way around. i like the wolverines more than the spartans based on history, so i am claiming michigan. anyways i know i went on rambling, and most who read this prob won't care and some will claim I'm a bandwagon jumper like some of my friends are lol, but i just wanted to say hey and I'm glad to be a part of the detroit fan base. and also i apologize if this is hard to read, i probably should have organized it better lol.

thanks

i really see this team going far in the future, it seems the injuries to best and leshoure really hurt this year. and the dbs not covering elite passing teams either is something to improve on. I’m confident in coach schwartz and what him and mayhem will do this offseason.

Yeah, confidence in the Lions FO is a bit new for me.

I feel it, too.
Unlike with our previous GM, when our current FO makes a puzzling move now I assume it’s ‘cause I don’t know enough about it. Previously, I assumed it was because the GM was just an idiot.

Lookin’ forward to seeing how the 2012-2013 roster shapes up.

And we're glad you're here
but i just wanted to say hey and I’m glad to be a part of the detroit fan base

I would like to extend congrats on your great choice and exceptional good taste in choosing whom to root for. We all have to start somewhere and not being a Michigan anything, I came to like the Lions because of an electric football game.

Ya know

I perpetrated a rather funny bit on some of my conspiracy theorist friends for which you gave me the initial idea. Maybe now is a good time time to come clean.

Do you recall one of your posts a few months back where you said Jason would kick the winning FG in OT vs the Ratbirds in the SB? This generated in my warped mind a great bit of fun disinformation to spread around the CT community.

I told several umm, folk that I had it from an impeccable DOD source (no other names, places or associations mentioned) that was also a hardcore Lions fan, that ‘They’ had decided the Lions were a mortal lock and would win it with the aforementioned Hanson kick. As the season wound down and things started looking bad for us I was serene in my pronouncements that my source was impeccable and they would come to see this made true. Things went swimmingly for the next couple of weeks while we rallied and made the playoffs. However, once we lost to GB and got the Saints, I knew the game was about to be over. So, I weaseled and told them that my source reported the opportunity to use the Tebow phenomena was probably too good to pass up and that the Lions might have to get dumped by using the refs. LOL, that worked out well, eh?

Anyway, it all went so well for so long and I got such a good chuckle out of it, i thought you might as well.

I have informed my superiors that I have found the leak.

The Lions Superbowl Diversion (LSD) was supposed to leak. This would allow implementation of the Tebow Hooplah Cataclysm (THC). The goal was to control the outcome of America’s most popular sport by using a “divine” sports icon to explain the otherwise obvious game fixing techniques. I’m not sure how you found this all out, but get the word out. The public must know before its too late. I’m sure they’ll try to silence us by any means…hold on, someone’s at the door.

The first electric football game I got was xmas 1970

and it had the Lions and the Cards. I thought the blue uni’s were cooler than the whites and I put the better bases on the Lions. Thus it was with my Lions that I won my neighborhood electric football championship and the rest is history

mine was rams steelers .. mustve been '79

with the big yellow QB throwing bombs.
I had to specialty order the Lions… In fact still got the game in my basement

Yeah, I mowed a lot of lawns to buy my other teams

You still have yours?? Too cool, bro.

We never used the QB’s. We either stuffed the ball under the runners arm, or threw it at the receiver from behind the line. Sure used to get in a lot of arguments whether we hit the receiver or not…..

Glad to have you here.

It sounds like you are all in on Michigan. Of all of these teams, I think only the Pistons will completely disappoint you.

Did you guys see the size of that chicken?

you were born here so no bandwagon, our doors are always open to you during good times and bad.

and as bad as the Pistons are, they have won 3 championships since I moved back to Michigan in "89.

Nice to have you

Like Mr. Wayne Fontes said, the special threads throughout the year are great. You’ll see every angle of discussion. Don’t miss out on big off-season events either!

We have our man. It's Stafford. It's Suh. It's Calvin. It's Delmas. What we need is Man Number Two to stand up.

So, for the sake of curiosity:

Why didn’t you like Jeff Fisher? Dude seems like a solid coach to me.

by motown313 on Jan 13, 2012 10:35 PM EST reply actions

he was the definition of mediocre

if you look at his career numbers, the only good thing he did was go to the Super Bowl when they first moved to tn. of course they lost and every since they have always been mediocre aside from the one 13-3 season which they had a few years back, which was only cuz of our easy schedule and stellar smash and dash running game. the main reason i don’t like him is he will stick with his veterans no matter how poor they play even if the rookie sitting behind them is outplaying them. and he also is waaaay too conservative and predictable with his play calling. i know that VY wasn’t his guy and all but you can’t tell me they couldn’t be more creative with VY when they had him. and to me i see a lotta of fisher in munchak. he is very conservative and to me he is just a puppet on strings to the gm and owner in tn. the one good thing i like about munchak is his honesty. when he don’t know the answer he is not afraid to admit it. and i do believe he has that team headed in the right direction, but i think he needs to not be so attached to the veterans, especially considering the stellar play we have seen from rookies the last few years.

Welcome to the Pride!

I actually went to a Titans game years ago … was a good time! Had a fly-over by B2 bombers before the game started, pretty awesome. In any event, nice to see you return to your roots.
