XFINITY Presents: The Ultimate Sports Social Media Job Contest

In the last few years, the rise of social media sites like Twitter and Facebook have helped transform how people watch sports. Nowadays, it is commonplace to not only be in front of a TV during a game, but also a computer. Like game threads on this site, people often park themselves on Twitter during games in order to interact with others, read the thoughts of people they follow and in general add another dimension to how they watch sports. With this aspect of sports viewing becoming so popular, XFINITY is presenting a contest with a very unique opportunity for the winner -- a job tweeting from the biggest sporting events in the United States in 2012. You can check out more information about the contest after the jump.

Star-divide

Have you ever wanted a shot at winning your dream job in sports social media? Here's your chance -- XFINITY is launching a nationwide contest to find the next sports social media star to serve as the voice of XFINITY behind the scenes at the biggest sporting events nationwide in 2012.

The contest is called "XFINITY Presents: The Ultimate Sports Social Media Job" and runs from Jan. 13 through March 25. The winner will receive a one-year salary, all the electronics for the ultimate sports pad and will have the opportunity to share thoughts, insights and content with fans nationwide via the @XFINITYSports Twitter handle on a daily basis. This is truly a dream job opportunity for anyone looking to make a name for themselves in the world of sports and social media.

Here's how it works:

From Jan. 13-Feb. 6, you can log on to Facebook.com/XFINITY and submit a video ranging from 30 seconds to two minutes on the Ultimate Sports Social Media Job contest tab that shows why your sports knowledge, social media expertise, personality and passion for Comcast products and services makes you the perfect candidate for the job.

The top video submissions will be featured on the Ultimate Sports Social Media Job contest tab located on Facebook.com/XFINITY for fans to vote on from Feb. 9-19. The five entrants who tally the most votes will advance to the final round of the contest where they will cover one of five premier sports events the weekend of March 8-11. Following that weekend, a panel of judges will evaluate each performance and announce the winner of the contest by March 25.

Head today to Facebook.com/XFINITY and click on the Ultimate Sports Social Media Job contest tab for all the details, as well as contest rules. Enter soon, as Feb. 6 is the deadline for video submissions. Thanks to Pride of Detroit partner XFINITY for bringing this opportunity to our readers.

This seriously sounds like a dream job for a sports fan, so make sure to check this contest out, especially if you're somebody who loves social media and hopes to make a career out of it in the future.

I'd love to participate.

But I really only follow football. I’d hate to get any kind of far in the contest and end up being the next ‘Boom goes the dynamite’ due to my lack of sports knowledge. Oh well.
