Cliff Harris

Last spring Harris was being projected as a potential first-round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft by nearly every website that evaluates such things. Now, all of these were very, very early projections based solely on Harris' production in 2010 when he led the Ducks with six interceptions (4 of which came between Luck, Locker, and Barkley) and 17 pass breakups while ranking second in the nation in punt return average (18.8 yards per return). But after barely playing last season due to various traffic infractions, other unpublicized incidents, untold behind the scenes issues and a general apathy toward all things structured that require discipline, Harris could easily go undrafted come April. Around the time of Harris' October traffic incidents in Eugene, one NFL scout asked how big a hit the 5-foot-11, 165-pound Harris' stock had stated: "I'm not sure he has stock. What has he done? Hard to draft a non-starter who is really small and can't tackle. Add to that "can't stay on the team" and you have big trouble. Now I do have some concerns with him being 5-11 165 but what could it hurt spending a late round draft choice on this guy? Maybe Mayhew even makes him a top priority UDFA like he did with Berry. What do you guys think?

I don't have a problem with them bringing him in

I know Mayhew doesn’t like to draft guys with character issues, but if they don’t have to draft him, and can try him out during camp, I don’t see a problem. I don’t know much about him, but 5’ 11" is about par for the course for CB’s, so maybe he could add a little bulk with an NFL weightlifting program (165 is definitely light).

If we didn't give Mark Herzlich

A great person, a leader and a great football player “the year before” a chance. I don’t see any reason to give this trouble maker the time of day. Sorry just my opinion and the Herzlich thing with the 7th round STILL bothers me.

Yeah

Do you like Culbreath more than Herzlich?

Would have rather had Herzlich in the seventh round last year

and even though I like Tim Toone, I would have rather had LaGarrette Blount with the last pick of the draft….

Truthfully him recovering from Cancer had alot to do with teams passing him up

Team won’t admit it, But they fear it may come back over time which could happen. they will not take any risk that aren’t football related. The same thing can be said about Robert Quinn we passed him up in favor of Nick Fairley. I know the Lions discussed Avril situation before this offseason & KVB already declined & breaking down his Brain Tumor in highschool probably had alot to do with them passing him up.
