NFL Playoffs, Lions At Saints: Final Injury Report
The Detroit Lions have a total of 11 players listed on this week's injury report. One of the players is doubtful and the other 10 are probable. Here's the rundown:
Detroit Lions
RB Kevin Smith (Ankle/Knee) - Probable
WR Calvin Johnson (Achilles) - Probable
DE Willie Young (Ankle) - Probable
DE Cliff Avril (Back) - Probable
DT Nick Fairley (Foot) - Probable
DT Corey Williams (Hip) - Probable
CB Aaron Berry (Shoulder) - Probable
CB Chris Houston (Hand/Knee) - Probable
CB Alphonso Smith (Foot) - Probable
S Chris Harris (Back) - Doubtful
S Louis Delmas (Knee) - Probable
Considering we are this far into the season, I'd say it's pretty good that the Lions will be down only one player going into the wild-card round, and he's not even a starter with Delmas returning. All things considered, that's pretty good, especially when you consider how many injury issues the Lions have dealt with this season.
New Orleans Saints
WR Lance Moore (Hamstring) - Out
WR Robert Meachem (Knee) - Probable
TE John Gilmore (Toe) - Out
LB Jonathan Casillas (Knee) - Out
LB Jonathan Vilma (Knee) - Probable
S Malcolm Jenkins (Neck) - Probable
S Jonathan Amaya (Shoulder) - Probable

Having the center of the DL so well represented will be HUGE in throwing off the timing of that O.

Honestly,
I think a lot of those guys are still hurt, but are going to play through the pain. I mean, come on! It’s the playoffs, baby!
But I’m saying stuff we already knew, I know. I’m going to go sit down.
Sledge I think it's more of a perfect storm
I bet most are ready to go, Delmas has had plenty of time to heal, and all the rest of been taking it easy. All right pride here’s my final say
Lions-41
Saints- 37
I'm stoked that the Lions are healthy...
I still wish we had Chris Harris just in case (and for rotational purposes), but to be honest, I don’t know how effective he would be against a pass heavy team like the saints.

Having Harris on the field is a liability
Against any team that runs multiple 15 yard pass routes. He does a decent job in run support but I don’t see much difference in him and Wendling. Good news is Moore is out, that should allow for more safety support over Graham. He will be the biggest pain in the ass.

Suh and Fairley vs Nicks and Evans...
cant wait to see if there all pro guards can go head up with Suh and Fairley… Delmas is a game changer and having him back in the lineup helps not only the secondary but also the Dline getting to the QB.
Who dat said they gonna beat them Saints… The MF Lions… What Up Doe!

I think the question is can Corey, Suh and Nick go up against the Saints All Pro guard combination

I dont think there is a guard in this league that can stop Suh one on one on a consistant basis...
i have to say that Fairley when healthy looked pretty damn good and as for CW i think bc Detroit rotates so much up front in the 3rd its going to really start to show. Suh Fairley CW Hill LoJack Ciff Willie and KVB will have to control the line and having Delmas back is a big boost. Strange things happen in the Playoffs maybe the D got a much needed wake up call and just play lights out from now to the superbowl.

Thing is
Suh probably won’t have a one-on-one. Even if he did, both Nicks and Evans are more than adequate to handle him. Lesser guards have kept him quiet this season.

indeed, which will open it up Fairley when he's in rotation next to him
and even if it’s Suh who Fairley is relieving he’ll benefit from a beat to fuck guard on that side. Ya gotta love the potential of this line. They’re going to answer all those who’ve been questioning if they can live up to hype (of what we saw not just heard).

Lance Moore.
That is a huge relief to me at least. Because once you have Graham covered and then you focus on Colston, Moore is always left open. And now he is out. Great.

that's right
it takes out one of the key safety valve for Brees. With what I expect to be far more relentless pressure this time that could be for the D. As you say, keeping Graham accounted for becomes even more vital. I hope Phonz comes in for nickle and can jump those routes ala freelancing.

Phonz pick 6, I'd love it.
