We're getting ZERO respect!

Ok I've been reading everything leading up to our game with the Saints and I'm a diehard Lions fan for over 30 years. From the sounds of it Brees is a god and Stafford is just very inconsistant, WHAT?????? Brees threw for 5476 yards with a QB rating of 110.6 and 46 td's, well Stafford as we know threw for 5038 with a QB rating of 97.2 and 41td's.. We know without a broken finger his number would be even higher. I was Watching the NFL matchup this morning, it's the same thing. It's unbelievable the lack of respect we get. If anyone else saw this they know what I'm talking about. Basicly Brees and the Saints are on fire (yes Brees is a great QB) and all they could say is Stafford's inconsistant and how Graham picked apart our secondary. Yes he did in the late second half against a beat up seconday. It was as if all they could talk about is how great the Saints are, and NOT one positive thing about the lions! I'm sorry, but didnt Calvin have over 1600 nyards and Stafford just have 520 yardsa passing? The key matchup they said on NFL matchup for the saints would be Tony Scheffler?????? A great player, but key matchup?????? Are you kidding me!!!! I'm really hoping we can pull off a win here. I'm thinking even if we do all we'll get is, we got lucky kind of thing. It's driving me crazy. I'm tired of our LIONS getting zero respect form officials, to reporters to other teams.. LETS GO LIONS!!!! A dynasty in the making. I hope them team are aware of this and use this as more motivation and i'm sure they are and they will. One last thing, watch out Saints, shut your windows and lock the doors, the hungry, hungry LIONS are coming to town!!! Stafford 2011 League Ranks: • 3rd in NFL in TD (41) • 5th in NFL in CMP% (63.5) • 3rd in NFL in YDS (5,038) • 5th in NFL in RAT (97.2) Brees 2011 League Ranks: • 1st in NFL in TD (46) • 1st in NFL in CMP% (71.2) • 1st in NFL in YDS (5,476) • 2nd in NFL in RAT (110.6)

You think We would be used to it by now.

But I still get mad. I can’t believe how blatantly the media in general ignore the Lions. Thats why this place is such a godsend for me. Nowhere else can I see reasonable Lions discussion.

I know we are big time underdogs.

I get it. But I’ve seen this team do too many Great things this year to write them off and ESPN or whoever shouldn’t write them off either.

by Eddie Apoc on Jan 7, 2012 9:38 AM EST reply actions

I can't see how it's surprising to be underdogs and not getting respect

We were top 5 in the league in penalties, we aren’t robotic like the Saints seem to be, and our defense just gave up 45 points to Matt Flynn without Greg Jennings. Also, they had no Clay Matthews or Charles Woodson. Would you be giving all kinds of respect to a team that just did that?

The Lions have to prove themselves for years to come. They’ve take many steps in the right direction, but the Saints have been good for years.

I don’t think the Lions should be written off, but let’s understand the odds stacked against us and enjoy the victory even more, should we manage to win, because of it.

Only way to get respect in football is to take it.

And you do that by winning. Lions have a chance to shut up their critics this evening.

i saw it too

it was amazing how up brees’ ass they were. if staffords 400 yards and a 70 completion% is inconsistent, then i guess i dont know the meaning of the word. then, they showed all the mistakes chris harris made, a player who was subbing for a better player and who will not be on the field tonight, to show how bad the lions secondary is and how the saints should walk away with this game.

they basically nit picked all of the variables that do not exist in tonights game. if nothing else, it pumped me up for this game.

Excuse my french but....

fuck ‘em. I’m sick of it too. You better believe our Lions are sick of it too. As much as I hate it it’s a good thing. It’s us against the world. I mean Cam Newton over Staff for the probowl? Seriously Manning and Homo too? Let’s go and shock the world. Superbowl or bust.

people still just dont want to buy in

It frustrates me to about all the lack of respect that the team gets, but whatever we are used to that. What i dont like is that Stafford is getting overlooked and not getting much respect, some people say that they were playing all back ups last week against the packers, (no they were not) some say without calvin, stafford is just average. So i guess if we are going to take away everyones best reciver away there would be no good qbs ever. Maybe they make each other better. Why dont they just say other qbs are gods and stafford is just a piece of shit. Its b s sorry Tom brady you had Moss for your 50 touchdown year so take him away and you only had 27, sorry montana and young you had jerry rice for your careers so take away all of your hall of fame stats, and i can go on but i wont. just garbage go lions, and stafford shut them up for good.

Well,

we did get the primetime tv slot again. That’s a little respect. The rest is just talking heads picking a front runner.

networks

want to attain and sustain viewers. If they thought it was going to be a blowout we wouldn’t have got it. However, you saying that is giving the Lions zero respect in my opinion.

I don't have cable but I was streaming espn the other day and Kordell Stewart had to force himself to admit Stafford was top 12 in the league!

Seriously, he just had the 5th best season ever and you can barely stomach putting him your top 12?

Who is the only Maniac to appear in every mmamania fantasy football league superbowl in league history?

by DetroitDrew1980 on Jan 7, 2012 1:59 PM EST reply actions

Kordell is a joke.

He also said the UFL was going to be bigger and better than NFL. Obviously, he knows what he is talking about.

You can't blame them

Vegas has this at 10.5. That is a HUGE number for a playoff game. No one is saying the Lions are a bad team or that they shouldn’t be in the playoffs. They just believe the Saints are that much better at home. Given the Lions track record against wining teams this year, you really can’t justify being pissed someone isn’t giving the Lion’s “respect”.

And keep in mind, I have money on the Lions to win the super bowl and on the Lions +10.5 today.

We're getting some Respect

A lot of analysts are saying the Lions will score a lot of points and the Saints should not take us lightly. But of course they are supposed to make predictions and are picking the Saints. Heck, a lot of POD members are picking the Saints.

Lions 31 Saints 28. GB vs Det part III.

by jeremy j on Jan 7, 2012 4:12 PM EST reply actions

I wouldn't have it any other way.

This way we really get to rub it in when the Lions beat the Saints. You can’t have much fun when you win a game you are supposed to win, but when you win one that nobody gave you a chance, you get to talk a lot of trash. On the flip side, if the Lions lose, nobody will think much about it. So the Lions can just move on and start work for next season without feeling like they gave anything away. For the Lions, it is all good no matter what happens now. Only the Saints have pressure to win.

It’s not good either way. By god let’s go and win a fucking super bowl. Thank god our guys won’t be content with anything less. Let’s shock the world.
