Maybe next year...LOL
All these years and nothing has changed except we have two quality offensive players and individuals. Thank you Matthew Stafford. Thank you Calvin Johnson. Terrible tackling. Terrible pass rush. Terrible coverage and Terrible defensive coaching. I have watched the Detroit Lions for 45 years and NOTHING has changed. Only the names. Once again, tonight, I am embarrassed to be a Lion fan. Cunningham should be fired for tonights coaching performance. I want to wish everyone on this forum a prosperous 2012 and end with just one statement from a fan of only one of four teams to NEVER make it to Super Bowl..Maybe next year...LOL

Yup, Embarassing Defense
I have never seen more utter disrespect for an opposing defense. It was nothing but embarassing. I will say Congrats to Stafford and Calvin and thanks for a great year. Also, lock calvin up tomorrow with a 10 year 150 million deal.
Plenty has changed
I’ve been a fan for fifty years and this ain’t nothing like those suck ass teams I saw for decades. We were in the playoffs so we must be doing something right. Screw that depressing shit. This is a good team but it doesn’t have depth or much experience at its core. It will.
SUPER BIG OVERREACTION!!!!!
NICE JOB!!
President of the Eric Wright fan club, but I love me some Aaron Berry.
Obligatory statement about being a huge Lions fan.
I have a twitter: Follow Me
I think Schwartz never expected the Saints to go for it on 4th down so many times
especialy with the Saints having the lead, very smart but it took a man with huge balls to keep doing that.
Also can’t blame gunny from dropped INT, in the 4th berry dropped a INT which wood of put us at our ten yard line. With the ball down by 3, that could of changed the game if he made that catch
Oh yeah and another TD that got blown dead as our defense recovered the ball…

Really? Because he has no history of taking risks. Not like that one coach who kicked an onside kick to open the super bowl second half. Who was that coach again?

So msivits what would the Lions have done differently to stop the Saints on fourth down?
I am not sure I understand how you can blame the coaches for not stopping the Saints on fourth down. They simply ran it down the Lions throats for the first down. The players on the field have to make a play. They did not.
A couple of third and longs were made by Lions defenders missing tackles. Pierre Thomas in particular, killed the Lionsby breaking tackle after tackle. And that included Stephen Tulloch and Justin Durant, two of our best run stuffers and tacklers.
Players have to make plays. The Saints made more plays than our guys. End of story.
"I’m sorry for all the people who want us to run the ball 40 times a game, but we’re going to put the ball in No. 9’s hands and he’s going to make plays for us like he did today," Lions coach Jim Schwartz said. Amen to that Jim!
This is one of those posts that shows...
You should never talk about a loss until you have had a chance to sleep on it and calm down. While some of the complaints are legitimate, the conclusion is not. To say this team is the same old Lions is just not right. Most of us did not even expect the Lions to make the playoffs this season. So after they exceeded almost all expectations, we really are going to have people making posts like this?

Tuffy, This guy is a professional troll.
Looks like he took a vacation from MLive to post here.
LP59, Thanks for sharing your stupidity and hate for the Lions. Go back to your Mom’s basement.

Yes...16 Hours and still the same ole Lions...
Yes, Calvin and Matthew are All Pro players. Best duo in Lions history. Unfortunately they don’t play both sides of ball. IF we play 60 minutes of solid football and lose close in a hostile enviroment, I would see a glimmer of hope. I mean, I understand giving up 6 touchdowns to an all time great like Matt Flynn (heavy sarcasim). For the record the Green Bay loss hurt more than New Orleans only because we had a chance to end the futility of historical consecutive losses at Lambeau and yet had another in a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG line of humiliating loses.Unfortuantely, nothing has changed. We have seen a couple 9, 10 and 12 win seasons over the last 45 years and ALL but one has ended the same with a beat down on National T.V. We had an all time great with Barry Sanders and have a potential all time great with Calvin and possibly Matthew. Suh is a poser. The Saints offensive line made our front four their bitches most of night. We constantly got gashed and had little pressure. I understand people getting angry with my original post. The truth hurts. We did not beat one playoff team all year. We got beat at home by San Fran, Atlanta and nearly got beat twice by a terrible Vikings team. Wake up and smell coffee. Nothing has change as it relates to the Lions. Next year I will once again drink the pre-season kool aid and read how the Lions will challenge for a Wild Card or division title. And once again, just like every year since 1957 we will have our hopes dashed with some head scratching loss just when we think things have changed. Yes, I will be there cheering next year. Remember the definition of insanity. Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.
Yep, same old Lions fans.
Guys like LP59 are why Detroit Lions fans have the reputation of being the dumbest and lamest in the NFL.
Hey,LP59! Go back to trolling on MLive with the rest of the losers.

You can do better than that. Can't you?
First thing in any debate. The minute you have to use foul language or start hurling insults you have lost. I really don’t get angry and those few individuals that would rather hurl an insult than articulate a position. I have learned that is an auto repsonse for insecurity and unhappiness.
I stand by every word I have written. I am impressed with many of the thoughtful posts on this forum. Some I adamently dissagree with, but respect them none the less. The Lions have yet to prove the corner has been turned. We have played 4 playoff games in the last 20 years. We got destroyed in three of them. They couldn’t get to the next level with an all time great like Barry Sanders (won 12 games in 1991! And the corner didn’t get turned as we got blown out at Washington in NFC playoffs after beating Dallas at home). Maybe with Calvin and Matthew things will be different. The only thing I know for sure, is those two are the real deal. Best quarterback and reciever the Lions have had in my lifetime (watching since late 60’s). We had hope with Barry the corner would be turned. Unfortuantely, that was not the case. The Millen era brought in new all time lows. Let’s look at the FACTS. We did NOT beat one playoff team at HOME this year. We had our chance with Green Bay, Atlanta and San Fran. At this point, there is no evidence to think we can go to another level. We have next level talent on offense (shout out to our offensive line at the end of year for protecting Stafford), but our defense proved to be an embarrassment. The tackling was atrocious. Suh is truly overrated. Sorry, when we GET to Super Bowl (don’t even have to win it) I will say the corner has been turned and the “same ole Lions” will not apply. Untill then, I will continue to go to games, continue to hope, but refuse to have my heart broke again like has been done so many times.
Congratulations LP59!!
You have just won the “Optimist of the year” Award! Hey guy, did you find a bug in your Cheerio’s this morning? Flat tire? Lose keys? How about the wife and kiddies; everything OK? Man, you should write and see if you can get tickets to “The Jerry Springer Show”. They love winners, excuse me; Whiners like you. I too have been following the Lions for quite some time and I have posted more than once on this site; these are NOT your father’s Lions, to paraphrase a popular commercial from the recent past. I too have been a bit frustrated by the inconsistency of the ENTIRE team, NOT just the defense; however, you and everyone else has to remember a couple of things. First, this IS mostly a young team. You have to play TOGETHER for a time to have the COHESION especially on the line allowing you to anticipate(by knowing who you are with and their particular weaknesses and strengths) what others are going to do so you can HELP them to work TOGETHER to do your job.. Secondly, you have to understand, as only long time Lion’s fans can, how difficult it is to COMPLETELY CHANGE your mindset toward the game. You have to go from “here we go again”, to “We CAN win this game”! It is NOT easy to do. Do you have ANY idea how many players down through the years have DREADED being drafted or traded to this team! I don’t KNOW this for a fact, but I have read and heard stories and I DON’T BLAME THEM!. Now, though, I think they DESIRE to come here as they KNOW this is an UP AND COMING TEAM! One who one site rated “highly probable” to being in the Superbowl during the NEXT FIVE YEARS! I could go on and on, but I have run into similar rants in the past, one I know from work at the present time, and my experience with them is they WON’T CHANGE even if we were to arrive in the SB. You would say, if we lose(likely for the first one) that we didn’t belong there in the first place. We were still the same old Lions and would never amount to anything. It was just a fluke. I wish you well, buddy, but I suggest you try to look at the glass as half full; silver lining; POTENTIAL! We ARE almost there! We WILL be there within 2 yrs, you can MARK MY WORD on that!
LION'S D LINE: THE SUH MAN GROUP!!!!
Wow.
I am embarrassed to be a Lion fan
I’m embarrassed that you’re a Lions fan. Same old Lions? Luckily, I had the presence of mind to delete the name calling spree I just typed. All I’ll say is I seriously hope one of two things happens:
1) you pick a new team to cheer for and leave us alone
2) you quit posting on PoD and leave us alone
Doing one or both of those would make my day because ‘Same Old Lions’ is just an ignorant comment.
It's turkey, Lions and Macy's. Any other combination is just ludicrous.
Twitter is for pussies. I follow people in real life.
