good year, suck ass refs

well it was a good year for our Lions, how good could it have been if the refs called a fair game? Now I don't want to hear that bullshit about the defense has to make a stop, when the other team is constantly getting extra chance to make a play because the refs arn't calling holding, like on every 3rd down completion and or big play by the Saints they (the Lions) didn't stand a chance. Can't beat the Saints and the refs. End rant

Refs actually did a good job personally

refs isnt the ones out there dropping easy interceptions, tackling like schoolgirls and blowing coverages, fans need to man up and admit we played like shit…point blank period!!!!

Took away a touchdown

Gave a free first down without even a measurement during the drive that gave the Saints the lead in the second half.

Zero holding calls on NO the entire night.

Blown whistle on the fumble recovery, we go up 21-7 if they don’t interfere.

I could go on, but really don’t need to.

I'm with you on that...

But, how many holding calls were called against the Lions? I believe one with Chosder. Now, I guess I wasn’t watching as closely at the Lions O-Line as I was with the Saints, but does anyone know how our O-Line did? Did you see any blatant holding from us that didnt get called? I believe the refs were told not to call holding all game to let these offense play out. The one on Chosder was pretty obvious, however it sucks ass because it took away a good play that would of made it 3rd and short instead of 2nd and long to 3rd and long.

And Schwartz should have challenged that spot on that 3rd and 12. Yeah, they gave him a damn good spot on that play but that should have been challenged. I think he could have also challenged the play when Brees got that fourth and short dive. I don’t know what the rules are about putting the ball over the line and then pulling it back, is that some sort of forward progress? But also, it looked as if Brees wasn’t on the ground but laying on his o-line when fairley ripped the ball out of his hands. That’s why fairley was so animated after the play. I believe that was a fumble.

There were at least four plays...

Where the New Orleans offensive line committed holds that were just as blatant as the one that Cherilus was called for. On one particular play, one of the New Orleans linemen dragged down a Lions rusher by his head and wasn’t called. The call on Cherilus killed a Lions drive that was moving well until that point.

One again, regardless of what the refs called, the Lions defense just did not make enough plays to win. The tackling was atrocious. There were at least three Saints drives that would have been stopped if the Lions could tackle in the front seven.

The Saints are not a team that has a dominate D line

They blitz for their pressure. blitzing pressure is less likely to result in the offense getting holding calls.

I counted at least seven times a Saints lineman had his arm around the back of one of our d-lineman in plain sight of the ref

and not a flag flyin anywhere, even my wife said “thats a fucking hold, wheres the flag” and see is sketchy at best on the rules. so if she can see it…Didn’t see these types of holds by the Lions because they didn’t need to, Saints d-line just isn’t up to par with Detroits. That is more of the reason Saints won game, if the secondary has to play cover for 20+ more times than they should have of course there is going to be break downs, its the whole percentages thing.

Yep refs. sux

I am still in shock and awww

Yes we have a young team and am sad they did not come up with the " big " play !!

When we DO come up with a big play, it is not called !!

21-7 changes the way the game is played. Not just on play calls but on confidence. You know N.O. Would have been like here we go again !!!

Either way I am still pissed we did not at least get a field goal on our fumbles !!

1 fumbles for a Kick and 1 for a TD and another INT for a stop = WIN FOR LIONS !!

Well, this is another game where the refs played a HUGE role in who won.

I can understand why the refs allow a certain amount of holding so that the quarterbacks don’t get killed. All I ask, is if youa re going to ignore it for one team, then be consistent and ignore it for both teams. It don’t make sense to let New Orleans hold at will then kill a Lions drive by flagging Cherilus for an infraction that is not more egregious that several that were ignore when the Saints had the ball.

It don’t make sense, unless the refs are INTENDING to help decide the winner.

Add in a whistle that never should have happened that keeps the Lions defense form scoring for the second week in a row.

Then add in a horrible spot that gives the Saints a first down when they should have been forced to punt.

Even Chris Collinsworth had to comment on how the Lions get the shaft from the refs OVER, and OVER, and OVER. If even the television commentators see it, then why doesn’t the NFL recognize it too? Maybe because they want ot that way?

I would hope we see more commentators complain about the refs in the future

I know Gruden does it a lot, but I think he wants to coach next year.

yep,

I hate to be mr. whinny, conspiracy theory typical Lions fan here but something is just fishy. I don’t know. Can it all be attributed to the Refs just sucking ass? 70 offensive plays, not one holding call? IDK, but considering how a lot of things in this world that goes on behind the scenes away from the public eyes is pretty sketchy, then I wouldn’t put it past the NFL for some sort of fix.

Look there is tons of money involved in these games, regular season and especially the playoffs. Just watch a game and see how many commercials there is. And they are trying to get people to watch every game and every year they are trying to break TV ratings for games and especially for the biggest game in the world, the Super Bowl. A brees/rodgers NFC championship game. Come on, Fun times all around just throwing the ball around. Two high powered offenses with Marquee QBs and bad defenses. The packers D can at least hold onto the ball if they get their hands around it.

I would not be surprised at all to find out that game was fixed

or even somewhat scripted

This is why Stafford needs to do a Playgirl spread

Once those ladies see the gianormous balls they will all fall in love with him and we will finally get all the good calls!
