Around SBN: The Most Dangerous Division in Sports

At this point, Cheers to the Saints.

I'm rather upset about some of the calls during the most recent game. Also I'm disappointed that the clock kept running in the mid-4th quarter even when the Lions got out of bounds.

That said, I think even if the calls had been made correctly, and things had gone how they should, that the Lions would still have come up just short. That makes this loss a little easier to deal with.

Star-divide

We have a bright future ahead of us, and at this point, I'm cheering for the Saints the rest of the way through. The main reason I would have rather gotten the 5th seed is because I think NO is the class of the league and I would have rather faced Dallas/NYG. In my view, we lost to the best team in the league and there's no shame in that. Cheers to the Saints and I'll be rooting for them throughout the rest of the playoffs.

May the Lions improve their OL and secondary in the offseason! In the meantime, Geaux Saints!

Thanks Ziggy

You guys have a very scary team I might add!! The next 10 years you’ll be giving alot of teams fits. Stafford is one hell of a QB

I spent 8 years trying to reach him...and then another 7 trying to keep him locked up because I realized what was living behind that boy's eyes was purely and simply...Evil.

The saints were the better team tonight.

Congrats to them and I hope they do go deep, they deserve it!

If you can't beat them, join them

Lol, but seriously, I do respect the Saints. Classy team, and that offense is a template for how to play football. I’d rather lose to the Champs than a divisional exit.

So best of luck to the Saints, and see you in the future

We have our man. It's Stafford. It's Suh. It's Calvin. It's Delmas. What we need is Man Number Two to stand up.

Same to you.

Brees is incredible. Although we should have had 2-3 picks against him tonight, he’s still amazing to watch. Good luck, and beat those fucking lofty ass high horse fans in GB!

Looks like y’all are only a few players away from a superbowl.

I respect the Saints and they earned a win.

I think the refs sucked, but I do not feel they clearly handed the Saints the win. At some point your team ahs to make plays, and the Lions just did not make enough plays. Especially on defense.

As I said in another thread

I will be rooting for the Saints now. I like Brees, he has been an underdog for a while. You know too small, injured shoulder and will not ever throw again, etc. I also like Sean Peyton, he seems like a classy coach and always shoots straight, he definitely is a ballsy coach and I respect that. I like how the Saints play, on both offense and defense, they go for the throat 100% from kick off till it is all but over.

I do think the Saints line held like mad tonight and didn’t get called, but the refs sucking is not their fault. Eventually the Lions will earn enough respect to get a game called evenly, eventually…..

I also love the fact that former Charger cast offs seem to grow Super Bowl MVP’s like they are on trees. From Eli Manning, and Drew Brees, to Darren Sproles this year?!?!?! Who knows, but all I know, is if you are an NFL GM, and you want a good player in free agency, go get that talented ex Charger that A. J, smith is too much of a pig headed tight ass to pay. Surely he will at least be an all pro if not a super bowl MVP.

From the D, go Saints. And if it is true that some Saints fans put a Lions fan in the hospital, if it was not justified, then ya’ll need to check your roll on your homies. Cause the D has never treated Nola with anything but respect. We are two similar cities, in that we have some grave hardships to get past. Yours a natural disaster, ours due to our own lack of foresight, stupidity, and corruption. Regardless of how we got there though, both cities have been through a lot of hardships.

Not gonna lie

Classy move by the Saints not running up the score. I don’t give a rats ass if a team does that, but I think they knew a couple things: This is a playoff game, and this game was closer than the actual score. Like I said, they could have scored another TD and ran this score up big time, and I’d be fine with that, but still…classy.

Good game and congrats on your season

This game was much closer then the final score
Calvin Johnson is easily the best offensive weapon in the NFL
The Lions should have a great future ahead your team has been improving in leaps and bounds since Jim Schwartz has been there
Good luck and I hope ya’ll keep it going

I'll be pulling for the Saints to go all the way.

Class act, they could have put up another 7…. You got to admit we had them pinned back in the first half. if we could have just held on two those two would be interceptions..

Draft day, lets get some offensvie line guys and secondary guys..

Rather lose to the champions than anyone else. One thing you can’t argue about losing to the Saints: you know when you’ve been beaten.

The players of that team are just on another level, and their management has done a terrific job. That is what I’d like to see out of every franchise, including our own.

Officiating aside, we didn’t play well enough to beat you, and you earned the victory. Now go shut the Niners up too, would ya?

I’m disappointed that the clock kept running in the mid-4th quarter even when the Lions got out of bounds.

I was at the game. I noticed that a couple of times.

The Lions are a great team, and played a really good 3 quarters or so against the Saints. Stafford is nearly or already an elite QB. He got some valuable experience this year and is only going to get better. I like that Delmas kid and always have. Maybe need to improve the bench and you’ll go even deeper in the playoffs next year. Good job, great season.

Not sure what you're referencing

but most people don’t know the actual rules.

Going out of bounds only stops the clock temporarily. The clock restarts once the ball is set. The only exception to this is under five minutes left in 2nd half or under TWO minutes in the first half. It is only then that running out of bounds will stop the clock until the next snap.

I have no problem with the Saints.

I’m pretty sure Vilma was fucking with Stafford… prompting him to go ahead and dive for the TD. I don’t really know what was going on though, maybe it was nothing.

I like the team and despite some horribly low class pro-N.O. trolls jumping on the city of Detroit even before the game started, I know they’re not emblematic of the Saints team or fanbase. Definitely pulling for New Orleans in virtually any matchup.

Congrats to the Saints

They deserved the win, their coaching staff edged ours.
Their O-Line is awesome.
We have to keep in our minds we stayed at their level 3 quarters in NO. That’s great
Improve running game, fix defense (it’s not only a matter of players, it’s a matter of scheme first) and keep on working
Staff acted like a great QB, in playoffs, on the road, having all the burden of the offense on his shoulders.
And, like Sean said … Thank you Lions.
Here in Europe some guy still looks at me telling “How can you be a loyal fan to that bunch of losers” ?
Easy answer : those days are gone, take a look to our offense, take a look to our QB, he’s still 23, take a look to our rebuilding

Hey Lions fans

A little late in posting (so my apologies).

I can appreciate it wasn’t the outcome you wanted for your team this past Saturday, but all the best to you and your team going forward. You guys have a talented roster and should be a force to reckon with for a long time to come. Here’s to the Lions owning the NFC North for years to come.

P.S. If you guys don’t want Megatron we will gladly take him off your hands. Ha. Stafford to Megatron is going to shatter records.

Sorry can't support the Saints

Go Niners!! Can’t wait to see what Harbaugh has on hand for the Saints offense. Here’s to enjoying another vigorous handshake between coaches after this one!!

Ugh, the Niners? I think i just threw up a little in my mouth and swallowed it, oh wait no that was me watching us lost to that asshat Harbaugh back in the regular season

About the only thing I wish for on the Niners is that fat tub of lard Anthony Davis to choke on his foot.

Ummm....sorry bout your loss but the Niners roll!

No shit talk, just the facts. The Niners out-performed the Saints in a shoot out and brought it home. Vernon Davis is a post-season beast!!! For me the Lions post-season loss now vindicated. Can’t believe there are Harbaugh haters in Motown. Hatin’ or not he’s a solid pro coach. Can’t wait for the Lions to play the Niners again.
For the Saints supporters losing this game was good….Brees is home for his birthday!!

Fuck that dude. You really can't believe it?

Nah son. I think I’m allowed. He has zero class. I never said he wasn’t a great coach, in fact numerous times I’ve praised his work & I think it’s likely he wins coach of the year.

But again, fuck Jim Harbaugh. He is an Über, hyper-douche. He’s not my coach and I think he’s a shitface. No class.

Just the facts, as it were.

If I have this straight, here's another reason to cheer for the Saints to go all the way

One of the rewards for winning the Superbowl is to get to host the Thursday night season opener at home to start the 2012 season. (Pretty sure I read that anyway)

If the Saints win it all, it takes the game away from the Packers at Lambeau. Having that game is an advantage, because (a) you get to start your season at home with the national spotlight and rabid fans, and (b) after playing, you get a long week to rest and prepare for your next opponent.

The Saints also know that the season-opening loss was the difference between home-field throughout and two road games these playoffs. Hell, the outcome of that game may have even secured the MVP for Rodgers over Brees.

If they can beat the Packers on the road (assuming that is the NFCCC game), it will boost confidence that they can get a win next year when they go to play at Lambeau yet again during the regular season.

What’s bad for the Packers is good for the Lions right? I know, it’s a stretch, but we want the scheduling gods to play us a good hand right from the start. Besides that, who could cheer for the 49ers or Packers? Go Saints!

Late to the party ...

Given the long history of lack of success (until recently), I’ve thought of the Saints franchise and fans as kindred spirits. I really was cheering for you during the Super Bowl run. Gotta love an underdog. I hope the Lions emulate your success and build a well balanced team that can run the ball, pass like mad dogs and have a decent D. And of course y’all have some of the best food in the universe. I mean, how can you beat a good bowl of gumbo? Shows how messed up Jared Allen is … LOL. Good luck with the rest of the season !
