Greetings Pride its been a while since I've last posted but I've been following our Leo's on this website primarily for the last 2 years about. Nonetheless I have come across several posts that seem to indicate that we have various problems for our Lions, however I've found none which indicate that we have a loyalty problem.
The season 25% over and the Lions with just one win? Even worse, were 6-10 through the last 16 games after our 5-0 start last season
By loyalty I mean we have enduring relationships to some of our players and staff that are undeserving. These undeserving statuses and a tad bit too much of conservatism has lead to a dreadful 1-3 start, which should be a 3-1 start. Far too often we have put out our pedestrian players on the football field and expected good things from them because they are good people? See: exhibit John Wendling... Good ST guy, but obviously not a baller. Speaking of that group of scallywags, ok folks for the second week in a row i have seen breakdown in coverages on Jonte Greens side...Why is this guy even on the team and not the PS, it obvious he can't cover, but hell if you can't play special teams he needs to be cut or practice squaded.
My position is that as much as our problem is mental it is also personnel. Week end and out we have fielded some scrubs that don't deserve starting positions, this arises from problems that happen in April-July when everyone else is gearing up and revamping their squads, and we on the mean time are making luxury picks of guys who have contributed minimally thus far... yes im talking about Rieff and Broyels. We have failed to move on from guys that are good but times have passed KVB, Burl, C Will, Riola, Peterman, etc...And this has hurt us in fielded talent, cap flexibility and ultimately wins. We have missed on guys with our picks not living up to expectations Leshoure, Young, Fairley, and Spievey...And our high paid, high pick leaders are under-performing (Suh, Staff, CJ, and Pettigrew.) Those fond of these players will say you can't get rid of our team leaders this isn't Basketball nor madden where you trade all your players away...blah, blah, blah...
For those I say what are the coaches for if not to motivate and teach, we are past the big brother stage. Our cap ineptitude made us miss out on a chance to land a renegotiated Asante Samual that was given away by the Eagles, the cap ineptitude caused by these old and tired players who aren't worth the hassle (or players that are overrated like our beloved Avril).
There are too many mental lapses, which cause huge swings in the game, you can't perform like our D did and lose because a team that comes on the field 12 times a game blows it half the time (special ed teams). Our problem is both personnel (GM) and playbook (coaching).
This team is throwing together a very lackluster effort and will have to battle themselves out of a hole to be in contention this year and I fear we maybe experiencing the 2011 Tampa Bay syndrome and peaked too early, overlooked our weaknesses and won games which we shouldn't had which lead to a terrible season.
