Detroit Lions kicker Jason Hanson has been named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week.
Detroit Lions kicker Jason Hanson's big day against the Philadelphia Eagles has netted him the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week award. Hanson received the honor on Wednesday, and it's the 12th of his career. Interestingly, this latest one puts him ahead of Barry Sanders for the most weekly awards in Lions history.

Hanson's performance on Sunday has had him moving up a couple all-time lists, and not just for the Lions. As mentioned on Tuesday, Hanson passed John Carney on the NFL's all-time scoring list and all-time field goals made list on Sunday.
More importantly, of course, is that Hanson's perfect game on Sunday (4-of-4 on field goals and 2-of-2 on extra points) helped the Lions beat the Eagles in overtime by a score of 26-23.
