Hey guys i'm a new fan on this site and have a couple of perspectives on this 2012 Detroit Lions team. I've supported the lions ever since 2005 and enjoyed the good and bad times. However this years team has a lot of "hype" surrounding it.
1. Stafford is a great quarterback and i believe with the right coaching and players around him he could be the next Aaron Rogers. He has the athleticism, the leadership and most importantly the arm to do so. Calvin Johnson isn't enough and Brandon Pettigrew is very inconsistent for a 1st round pick.
2. We needed to get 'bigger' at the wide receiver position. Having someone opposite Calvin whose just as big would benefit him as well as guys like Titus Young and Ryan Broyles. I also believe we made a mistake by selecting Young and Broyles in consecutive years. We could have got a Mike Adams with this years 2nd rounder instead. Hows Vincent Jackson going this year? He doesn't have to be Calvin, just big enough to go get it.
3. There were some questionable draft picks. (Kind of like my last one) such as Fairley, Leshoure, Broyles. These picks were questionable because they were consecutive year picks. Suh then Fairley. Best then Leshoure. Young then Broyles when we already have Megatron and Nate. A guy we should've got would have been Dexter McCluster. He's kinda like Percy Harvin. Runs the ball and catches with good speed.
4. All this hype isn't going down well with the team and handling expectations of the nation to make the playoffs again is ultimately bad for this team. This team should always be the underdog and i believe that's why this team went 5 - 0 last year.
Once again i'm a new fan and sorry if i missed anything i was supposed to write :D
