Rock Cartwright and Greg Jones were among the players who worked out for the Detroit Lions on Tuesday.

As with most Tuesdays during the NFL season, the Detroit Lions brought in several players for a workout upon returning from the bye week. Dave Birkett reports that there were around six players in town for the workout, including running back Rock Cartwright and linebacker Greg Jones.

Cartwright has been in the NFL since 2002. Most of his career was spent in Washington with the Redskins, although he played for the Oakland Raiders in 2010 and 2011. This year, he was with the San Francisco 49ers before being let go during the final round of cuts. He tweeted about his workout:

Jones played football at Michigan State and was with the New York Giants during his rookie season in 2011. He was surprisingly released during the final round of cuts by the Giants this year, and he has been a free agent ever since.

These Tuesday workouts are really more about the Lions assembling a list of potential additions should a player get hurt or more depth be needed down the road. In other words, it would be surprising if anybody who was at the workout immediately gets a deal with the Lions.
