Although there wasn't a Detroit Lions game last week, there was a reason to celebrate. Actually, the fact that there wasn't a game provided a reason to celebrate. With players getting a week off, they had a chance to recover from bumps, bruises and other injuries. It was a chance for everybody to sit back and relax for a week, and the time off has done wonders for the Lions' injury situation.
Before the Lions' bye week, their injury report had 13 players on it. It included the likes of Matthew Stafford, Mikel Leshoure, Calvin Johnson, Travis Lewis and Louis Delmas. Only Lewis and Delmas may have actually been out of that group, but the point is the Lions were a very banged up football team.
Fast forward to Tuesday and the Lions' injury situation looks quite a bit different. While it still remains to be seen how many players will show up on the injury report, the fact that only Brandon Pettigrew and Corey Williams were out on Tuesday is a very promising sign. Very few players are probably 100 percent healthy at this point in the season, but the Lions do seem to be a much healthier team than they were a couple weeks ago.
There's certainly still a long way to go before Sunday's game, but I have a good feeling about the Lions' injury report this week.
