Why not play Suh at DE for the rest of the year?

Since the Lions are now in evaluation mode, why not shuffle the D-Line for the rest of the season? We already know what kind of player Suh is in the middle, but can he be effective on the edge?

Think about it, DT is our deepest and most talented position. Suh, Nick Fairley, Corey Williams, and Sammie Hill are all good football players. At the same time, DE production has been terrible for Detroit. Even their best DE, Cliff Avril, isn’t having a major impact on games. Of all the DTs on the roster, Suh is the most likely to be effective off the edge. Why not give him extended playing time out there to see what he can do?

If Suh can be effective off the edge, it solves a major hole going into next season. CWill and SLH will be relatively easy to sign to cap friendly deals, so DT depth won’t be an issue. If Suh isn’t effective off the edge, then play him at DT next year again. The emergence of Nick Fairley in the middle gives Detroit the opportunity to try new things with Suh, why not take advantage of it? It’s a no-risk proposition for Detroit.
