NFL Combine 2012 Invite List Released
Earlier this week, the official list of invitees for the 2012 NFL Combine was released. The combine will be held later this month in Indianapolis, and it is set to feature several players from Michigan colleges. Here's the breakdown:
|
Michigan WR Junior Hemingway |
Michigan State |
|
Western Michigan |
Wayne State |
For Michigan, I will be keeping an eye on Martin's bench press. He has said before he wants to break the reps record, and considering how strong he is -- he did a rep of 500 pounds this week -- it wouldn't surprise me if he does rewrite the record books.
For MSU, it will be interesting to see how Cousins does in comparison to some of the other quarterbacks. I think it's a given that Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III will be the first two QBs off the board, but after that things seem pretty open. I think Cousins has a chance to really improve his stock.

Since I go to MSU
Baker is an idiot for leaving early. Would love to get Martin (wr) or Cunningham to fill out our receiving core. 1) Johnson 2) Burleson 3) Young 4) Martin/Cunningham 5) Logan.
Baker isn't really an idiot for leaving early.
Yeah, it’s unfortunate for MSU because he’s quite a talent (I’m an alumnus myself), but his draft would probably only have fallen next year. Let’s face, Bell had already become the guy – he’s fast, strong, talented, catches, and blocks like a fullback. He’s the complete package, and that backfield was getting really crowded with Bell, Baker, Caper (healthy again, and who started over Baker their first year), Nick Hill, and I’m pretty sure they got another burner type in the recruiting this year. Decreased playing time will sink an already somewhat low draft stock, and if he got hurt? He’d be undrafted for sure. Here, at least, he gets to go the combine and wow scouts with his speed and athleticism – he might not have gotten the chance next year.
On the other hand, if Bell has the season I expect from him next year, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him leave early with a shot at the first round.
