Matthew Stafford To Appear In 'This Is SportsCenter' Commercial
ESPN gets a lot of well-deserved criticism for some of the ways it covers sports, but one area where it receives a lot of well-deserved praise is in the commercial department. ESPN's "This Is SportsCenter" commercials have always been hilarious, mainly because they work athletes into comical situations in the offices of ESPN.
I'm not quite sure what the premise of ESPN's newest "This Is SportsCenter" commercial is, but it's going to feature Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford, as well as Hairy Dawg, the mascot for Stafford's alma mater, the University of Georgia.
Flight tonight to @espn headquarters in Bristol to shoot the "This is @SportsCenter" commercial with @Staff_9. #GoDawgs

I don't think a Lions player has been in a "This Is SportsCenter" commercial before. Actually, upon taking a quick look at the list of commercials over the years, I don't think a single Detroit athlete has been in one before. I know Sparty, Michigan State's mascot, has made a few appearances, but as far as I can tell, a Detroit athlete has not until now.
UPDATE: As pointed out by BtotheLT, Gordie Howe was in a "This Is SportsCenter" commercial.
UPDATE II: Grant Hill was also in a "This Is SportsCenter" commercial. (Hat tip to a reader on Twitter.)

That's cool. Stafford deserves any media exposure that comes his way.
..I will be pleased as hell to view this commercial when it’s done.

-There are approximately 45 cats and dogs for every person born.
-Only 1 out of 10 dogs born ever get a home.
-Only 1 out of 12 cats born ever find a home.
-Approximately 800 dogs & cats are KILLED each HOUR in the United States, because there are not enough homes for them!

I think this is pretty cool. I may just be high…but I think it’s cool.

Don't forget
about the commercial with Jerry Stackhouse when he couldn’t believe that Trey Wingo’s name was really Trey Wingo and he kept laughing at him.
“Seriously, man…what’s your name?”
Cool
Hey Sean, I have heard a couple people have had trouble logging in. Do you know of any issues that would cause this?

good for him
but i have to say it has been a LONG time since i watched any espn (other than a live game). I like the nfl network much better and for other sports i just go online, i can’t stand what espn has become.
