Shawn Loiseau for Lions?

Comes from a D-II school. Merrimack from Massachusetts. Shawn was a two-time Central Massachusetts all-star and was named Massachusetts Defensive Player of the Year. Reason he ended up in Div-II....look towards the end of the post.

A look at some stats as usual

Measurables: 6', 245lbs

Performed well at the East-West Shrine game to increase his stock. Has a total of 382 career tackles.

Plays hard nosed, tough and with instincts. Not afraid of contact, plays the run well,

2008 - Played 5 games as a freshman and had 5 tackles

2009 - Started all 10 games. 123 tackes and 1.5 sacks.

2010 - Started all 10 games.

2011 - Started all 10 games. 121 tackes. 4.5 sacks and 10.5 tackles for loss.

Has a bunch of all american (2nd team and on) credits. Was a beast. Not much of an injury concern. Has been a iron man who started 30 consecutive games for Merrimack.

Now being a D-II prospect, his draft stock is still down. There is a good chance that he will be available in round 7 or as a UDFA. He will add immediate impact to the special teams while being groomed for the ILB position. He seems to have a lot of upside and with the right coaching can clearly take his game to the next level.

"Loiseau isn't the biggest or most athletic, but he plays fast with solid instincts and lateral agility. I'm not sure he has enough to crack a starting lineup at the next level, but he'll be one of those players who will make it tough for a team to cut him because of his motor and intangibles. - Dane Brugler,".

I think the Lions has already talked to him. He has natural leadership qualities that he displayed for the East during the shrine game. Will certainly be the type of player that Gun would love to work on.

With such a profilic talent, how did he end up in Div-II? It certainly wasn't because of lack of talent it was due to an incident which had coaches and recruiters from big schools stay away from him. He spent some time in the jail. Look here for more details on that. Anyone in his position would have done the same and that doesn't define his character. He has stayed trouble free since then.
