I would first like to say how wonderful this day has been so far. I wake up to some morning delight and after checking out whats new on the POD I discover CJ's signing, making my purchase of a new Calvin Johnson throwback jersey the best investment of my life.....ever!
So on to the point of my rant. Eric Winston was cut by the Texans some days ago, which confused a lot of people. Winston, in many people's opinion, was one of or the best RT last season. I found it interesting, but I didn't think he would land with Lions because we probably couldn't afford him and I didn't see him as a need of ours. Well then I came across this. Link
Anwar Richardson of MLive is reporting that the Lions will host Winston after he visits the Chiefs, Rams and Ravens. This move puzzles me a bit. Richardson, as stated in the article, believes Winston could be competition for Cherilus. This is a big if, but if we do land Winston, can Gos be moved to RG? I think if Winston was good enough to be a top LT then Houston would have hung on to him so I don't see us moving Winston to the left side.
I don't watch enough games to be a good evaluator of our oline so my question to you geniuses out there is: Can Cherilus be an improvement at RG? I'm sure he has the power to push DTs back on inside plays, but does he have the quickness to pull around the ends for the outside plays or the capability to get to the linebackers?
