Just like last year, the cover of the latest edition of the Madden video game series will be determined by a fan vote. Madden NFL 12's cover ended up being Cleveland Browns running back Peyton Hillis, and let's just say he had a rough 2011 season, feeding into the notion that the Madden cover jinx is a real thing.

For this year's Madden cover vote, ESPN is putting 64 players up against each other. There are two players from each team that will go head to head before the round of 32 is determined.

For the Detroit Lions, the round of 64 matchup is quarterback Matthew Stafford vs. wide receiver Calvin Johnson. You can go here to vote, although part of me hopes the round of 64 winner is immediately knocked out after he advances. As cool as it would be to have a Lions player on the cover of Madden, I don't want to take any chances with the cover jinx.
