Detroit Lions running back Mikel Leshoure is set to be arraigned on a second offense marijuana possession charge. This news was a bit confusing at first considering that we had never heard about him being charged with possession of marijuana before. As it turns out, though, Leshoure was cited in February for possession of marijuana, and his most recent citation happened in March. Here's more from WXYZ:
This is the second time Leshoure is facing a possession of marijuana charge. On February 18 he was stopped in Benton Township. He plead guilty on March 1 to a reduced charge and paid a $485 fine.
Leshoure is scheduled for a walk-in arraignment on Monday.
The second offense charge stems from Leshoure being cited in Berrien County on March 12. During that stop, he apparently made the very poor decision of trying to eat the weed in order to hide it. From Dave Birkett:
He was a passenger in a car this time, pulled over March 12. Chief of police I spoke to said Leshoure tried to eat the weed to avoid charge

Someone's been watching a bit too much Super Troopers.
UPDATE: It's worth noting that Leshoure did spit out the weed when he was asked and he was cooperative with police.
UPDATE II: It's unclear what kind of discipline he is facing, but Leshoure's case will be reviewed by the NFL.
