I actually like the Broyles pick

As you can see in my title, I actually like the Lions selection of Ryan Broyles.

Now let me start off by saying that our offense is totally geared around the pass, and we aren't going to run the football 40 times so we need not only good receivers but good receiver depth as well.

I think everyone can agree with me in saying that we have a very good WR unit even without this guy, our Top 3 of Megatron, Burleson and Young is very good. However, after those guys we really don't have anyone worth mentioning. So while most people don't believe that receiver wasn't a need, It actually was.

Now, like all of you guys, I was very surprised that we picked this guy. I was almost sure it was going to be Peter Konz or some CB or maybe even a safety. However, he was on of the top players on the board and he fills a need.

For now, Broyles will fill the role as the #4 receiver, he will get a few catches per game and as the season drags along and injuries are bound to happen, he should be a valuable asset to the team. Not only should he be a valuable guy for the playoffs but this pick is all about the long haul. Nate Burleson has 2-3 years max at this level and he might not even be on this team by that point. Let Broyles grow into the system and in a year or two this guy will be a huge impact player on the Lions team.

Another thing that I wanted to point out. For the people complaining about us not getting a CB with this pick, I think everyone can agree with me in saying that there were only 4 starting CBs in this class( From day one of course). Those CBs are Jenkins, Claiborne, Gilmore and Kirkpatrick. Everyone else is a developmental guy that would be nothing but depth for a the next season.

We were defiantly not getting Claiborne or Gilmore and the Bengals snatched Kirkpatrick. I do believe that If Jenkins had been available at our pick we would have taken him but St. Louis beat us to him. So with this said, I really don't think it matters what CB we got, that guy would still probably just be depth for now.

So leave your opinions, and remember everyone is entitled to there own opinions so don't start hating after just reading the title.
