Trusting Mayhew and the FO.

Martin Mayhew was not on the same page as me in this years draft. While i loved every pick last year but it is a different story now. I'm going to give you my opinion but would like to clearly state I trust Mayhew and the Front Office 100% and are not doubting their picks.
I used a similar format in Detriot Bad Boys last year for the NBA draft and have been excited to do it here.

1st round- Riley Reiff, T, Iowa: B+ Who we should have gotton- David DeCastro, G, Standford

Notes: I like the Reiff pick but i would have valued the DeCastro pick much more. I think he can make the Pro Bowl in the Rookie Season (If they dont void it) and is a potential Hall of Famer. I understand the Backus replacement need but BPA was obvoiously DeCastro. I think Backus could move to RG anyway but whatever. Good pick.

2nd round- Ryan Broyles, WR, Oklahoma: C+ Who we should have gotton- Peter Konz, C/G, Wisconsin

Notes: i could have went a number of different directions for who we should have gotton but Broyles in the 2nd round makes almot no sense to me. The good thing is, we added firepower to an already powerful offense. But Raiola isnt going to be getting any younger and could really mentor Konz. Peter wasnt even supposed to drop this far and we should have ate that up.

3rd round- Dwight Bentley, CB, Louisanna Lafayette: A- Who we should have gotton- Dwight Bentley, CB, LLU

Notes: I really like this pick. Some might argue Lamar Miller but at this point, we needed to help the secondary and Bentley will get the job done. Hopefully he can turn into a legit #1.

4th round- Ronnell Lewis, OLB, Oklahoma: A- Who we should have gotton- Ronnell Lewis, OLB, Oklahoma

Notes: This was a great pick. We needed depth at OLB and we got a really, really good player. At the 4th round, this is a steal in my eyes.

5th round- Tahir Whitehead, OLB, Temple: F Who we should have gotton- Josh Norman, CB, Coastal Carolina

Notes: I just dont understand this pick. We just picked an outside linebacker last round and cornerback was a more pressing need. It was an utter miracle that Norman dropped to the 5th round. He was talked as a 2nd-3rd round pick and was availible at the 5th round? and was a need? I just dont understand.

5th round- Chris Greenwood, CB, Albion: D Who we should have gotton- Chris Rainey, RB/WR/KR/PR, Florida

Notes: The only thing that safed this pick from being an F was, it added depth to a need. Chris is going to be a real devolpment guy. Chris Rainey, was probably the better choice. He can return and become a weapon to the offense

6th round- Jonte Green, CB, New Mexico State: F Who we should have gotton- Cam Johnson, DE, Virginia

Notes: Now i was really confused on this pick. With now 3 DB's in the draft, it feels like we overkilled the position. On the other hand, Cam Johnson would give some stability to the ends of the line and Avril and KVB's futures uncertain, would be a wise choice.

7th round- Travis Lewis, OLB, Oklahoma: A Who we should have gotton- Travis Lewis, OLB, Oklahoma

Notes: This is a great pick up. I was a little tempted to put Chase Minnifield(Virgina,CB) here but i love this pick because Travis Lewis is a football player.

Overall: C+

I know that i am going to get severly bashed for my grades but this is my personal opinion. Comment below and Go Lions!
