The Carp snapped the line

Our reliable backup linebacker Bobby Carpenter has left our Lions for the Patriots. I'm sure you all have already heard about it. This is a harder blow than I imagined it would be. Well, tribute time.

Mr. Bobby Carpenter was only our backup linebacker for two years, but he made a bigger impact than any of us would probably ever imagine. He was drafted in the first round by the Dallas (dumb ass) Cowboys in 2006 out of Ohio State. He had a minimal impact in the 3-4 defense in Dallas and was cut just a few years later. Labeled a bust, Bobby bounced around to a few teams, Rams and Dolphins, before landing in Detriot. Mayhew gave him a chance and he took opportunity by the neck. He was a fantastic special teams player, using hustle and skill to get the returner. Last year our starting linebacker, Justin Durant, went down with a hamstring injury. Bobby Carpenter was asked to step up against former team and did tremondusly. With our team down 24 points, Bobby stepped in front on a Tony Romo pass and took it to the house. That sparked a rally and our Lions came back stunningly to beat the 'boys. Instantly, the city of Detriot, and us, loved the red haired, pale faced man of Bobby Carpenter.

But things have moved on and Bobby might be able to start in New England. I wish him luck, and will go through this day with that interception on my mind.

Farewell to the Carp
