The health of Detroit Lions running back Jahvid Best has been a hot topic ever since he suffered a season-ending concussion in 2011 against the San Francisco 49ers. Questions about if Best will be able to continue his career have been common all offseason, and although the Lions expect Best to be cleared for contact later in the offseason, concerns about his future remain.

For now, there are reasons to be optimistic about Best. Aside from the optimism from within the Lions organization, there is this news about Best from Monday's organized team activity:

As has been stated in the past, the real test for Best will be when contact is allowed in the summer, assuming he is cleared for it. Even so, the fact that he has returned as the starter or first-stringer at running back is good news. If the Lions end up with a healthy Best and Mikel Leshoure in 2012, the offense will get a big boost.
