What's On Tap For Lions This Week

The NFL offseason can really be divided up into a few main sections. The first part of the offseason, for example, consists of player movement with free agency and the draft. The next section, which we're in right now, involves organized team activities and the offseason training program. Finally, the last part of the offseason is when training camp and the preseason take place as the final preparations are made for the regular season.

The Detroit Lions have completed their 10 OTAs, leaving only a mandatory minicamp before the second part of the offseason is complete. That minicamp will take place for three days this week (June 12-14), and once it is in the books, the Lions will break until training camp at the end of July. Here's a look at the exact schedule for this week:

Tuesday, June 12: Minicamp begins and Lions/Kevin VanDam Charity Fishing Tournament is held

Wednesday, June 13: Minicamp continues

Thursday, June 14: Minicamp comes to a close

Following the minicamp, players will get time off before returning to Allen Park for training camp. This will really be everybody's last chance to relax before the grind of training camp begins, and then that leads into the preseason and regular season and hopefully the playoffs as well. After this week it'll be pretty quiet for a month or so (assuming there aren't any more off-field issues), but once training camp begins it'll be full speed ahead for the next six or so months.
