Jason Fox To Miss Lions' Minicamp This Week

The Detroit Lions held a brief practice this morning as part of their mandatory minicamp that runs through Thursday. Several players were missing from the practice, including offensive tackle Jason Fox. He has dealt with various injuries in his first two seasons in the NFL, and the Lions decided to shut him down this week due to a sore knee.

Jason's had a good offseason, but his knee was getting a little bit sore, and we decided to shut him down. You won't see him for the minicamp. Other guys you'll see back.

Fox spent his first season in the NFL recovering from a knee injury. Last year, he broke his foot in training camp and was then placed on injured reserve during the season after hurting his right knee. The injury required surgery, and now Fox is once again dealing with soreness in his knee.

Let's hope that by missing the minicamp and getting some time off before training camp, Fox's knee will be feeling fine by the time practice resumes next month. This is an important season for his future with the Lions. He certainly has a chance to compete for playing time, but if he can't stay healthy, he may not be in the Lions' plans beyond 2012.
