Hey this is basically something for us to kick around since we are in a non-football slump.
At this time everyone feels great about their team. No practices are being held, so their is no report on our rookies. No one got hurt recently and everyone is healthy or almost there with plenty of time to get " there ". That being said I wanted to ask the POD what they think the future holds for Stafford and Suh staying with the Lions. Now I want to start with I love both players, want them here forever but I believe that will not happen.
Why, simple. Both players contracts will be up in the same year and I believe they will both require a boat load of money to keep. Stafford is the QB and will most likely get his contract. Suh, well he held out for a short period of time on his rookie contract and signed a 5yr contract vs a 6yr and I honestly wonder if that was by design of his agent. I believe we will eventually loose Suh. I hope we go to bat as much as possible to keep him, but I imagine we will not be able to. If that fact comes to light a year before his contract is up, I will go on record as saying I hope we get something for him in return instead of letting him go and getting nothing in return. Just wanted to hear your thoughts. No it is a long ways off and nothing is relative since injuries and such can happen. Just wanted to see, at this point and with how they have produced, assuming for sake of argument are healthy. Does anyone think we will actually keep both ?
I also think that by keeping both we will be to strapped on cap space to keep who we need to fight for a SB year in and year out.
