I'm pretty sure this was known before Tuesday, but the list of teams the Detroit Lions will play in 2013 was made official with yesterday's release of this year's NFL Record & Fact Book. The Lions are set to take on the NFC East and AFC North as part of their 2013 schedule. Also, they will go up against one team from the NFC South and one team from the NFC West (based on where they finish in the NFC North standings in 2012). Here's a full breakdown of the Lions' 2013 opponents:
Home opponents: Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, NFC South team
Away opponents: Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Redskins, Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers, NFC West team
Obviously this is quite a ways away, but the home schedule looks like it is going to be pretty difficult with the Cowboys, Giants, Ravens and Bengals all coming to town. On the road, the Lions will also face some tough challenges. A lot could change in the next year, of course, but I'm glad the above list isn't the basis for the Lions' schedule in 2012.
