The biggest thing I'd like to see out of our beloved Detroit Lions this coming 2012 season is taking ownership of the games. A win is a win and I'll take it, but I'd really love to see the Lions take control of a game from the beginning and own it until the end. That includes having a few dog fights along the way. The important thing is to "STAY" in the game. I know they were still in the game and that's why we pulled out the wins, but that is unsafe, unreliable and creates desperation that can lead to risk/turnovers and unnecessary injuries.
Last season with the games we were fighting 20+ points back at times were just exhausting as a fan (and yes, pretty exciting at times too, but not until after the fact). For 2012, I want to see the Lions come out on fire and not have to start games from behind. Especially when we meet the 49ers in week 2 (which will build into my next post).
Another thing we really need, is to get the running game figured out. So far we're hearing good things from the staff and the players themselves, but can Jahvid stay on the field? Can Smith? Can Leshoure stay on the field and out of jail?
So for me it's keeping games closer and starting strong (unless we're winning big, that's OK!), and getting/keeping the running game going. Please add in the comments what you would like to see happen the most this season.
