Stay connected for news and updates

Detroit Lions first-round pick Riley Reiff signed his contract on Monday. It took longer than expected to get him under contract, but he wasn't going to let this drag on beyond Monday, which is when rookies reported for training camp. He placed an emphasis on not missing any time, and with him signing a couple days ago, he will be ready to hit the practice field on Friday.

The terms of Reiff's contract were unknown on Monday, but they were released on Tuesday. His four-year deal is worth $7.993 million and includes $6.5 million in guaranteed money. He received a signing bonus of $4.25 million and is scheduled to get a $325,000 bonus in 2015. Here are more details from his deal:

Reiff’s contract includes a minimum base salary this year of $390,000 and base salaries of $753,350 in 2013, $1.117 million in 2014 and $1.155 million in 2015.

The Lions have an option for 2016, so they have the ability to add on a fifth year to Reiff's deal down the road.
