The 2012 NFL Supplemental Draft is officially scheduled for Thursday, July 12. The NFL announced the date for the draft on Monday, and it also announced that eight players have entered it and are eligible to be picked. Via SB Nation, here's the list:
- Boise State DB Quaylon Ewing
- Baylor WR Josh Gordon
- Syracuse RB Adam Harris
- Iowa State T Adrian Haughton
- Carson-Newman LB Larry Lumpkin
- Georgia DE Montez Robinson
- McMurray WR Houston Tuminello
- TCU RB Ed Wesley
In the history of the supplemental draft, the Detroit Lions have only picked one player -- defensive back Kevin Robinson in 1982. They submitted a future ninth-round pick (yes, there used to be a ninth round) in order to land Robinson.
This year, it's not expected that the Lions will spend a future draft pick to select anybody in the supplemental draft. They could always surprise us, and a player like Wesley is an intriguing prospect, but I wouldn't expect them to pick anybody.
