- According to Brad Galli, Sports Illustrated was at Monday's Lions practice to do a photo shoot with Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson because there will be a "big spread" of them in the NFL preview issue.
- The Lions hosted members of the Detroit Police Department at practice on Monday.
- The trial date for Nick Fairley's DUI arrest has been pushed back to Sept. 26. Previously, the trial date for the marijuana charge he is facing was pushed back to November. Roger Goodell has said he may still suspend Fairley before the legal process plays out, but with both trials not happening before the season, I wonder if Goodell will instead decide to wait to make a decision on a suspension.
- The Lions' captains for last week's game against the Cleveland Browns were Justin Durant, Erik Coleman, Rob Sims and Shaun Hill.
- The second-team offensive line against Cleveland consisted of LT Riley Reiff, LG Dan Gerberry, C Dylan Gandy, RG Jacques McClendon and RT Corey Hilliard. It will be interesting to see if there are any changes made for Friday's game against the Baltimore Ravens.
- Speaking of Friday's game, Thom Brennaman and Brian Billick will be the announcers since it is on FOX. All I can say is that I have a feeling my mute button will be utilized on Friday night.
- Kid Rock is writing an anthem for the Lions as part of a sponsorship deal with Pepsi.
- The Pro Football Hall of Fame has uploaded the video honoring Tom Kowalski for being named the winner of the Dick McCann Award.
- If you haven't already seen it, go watch the video from Hard Knocks of Chad Johnson being released by the Miami Dolphins.
- Linebacker Korey Bosworth, who was recently released by the Lions, has signed with the Oakland Raiders.
- The Minnesota Vikings have decided to make use of the NFL's new blackout policy.
