Cornerback Aaron Berry doesn't play for the Detroit Lions anymore, but that doesn't mean he's exempt from being punished for his offseason arrests. As first reported by Adam Schefter, the NFL has decided to suspend Berry for three games over his DUI and arrest for simple assault involving a gun.
Berry, who was released by the Lions following his second arrest, is still a free agent. Even so, as pointed out by Dave Birkett, the Lions will still likely feel the effects of his suspension since the arrests happened when he was with the team
Aaron Berry has been suspended 3 games by NFL, per league source. Lions still on hook for fines related to multiple suspensions— Dave Birkett (@davebirkett) August 20, 2012
Mikel Leshoure has already been suspended two games by the NFL, and it's possible Nick Fairley will be suspended as well. Add those two to Berry's suspension and the Lions could be hit with a fine by the NFL.
