Matthew Stafford Leaves Game With Left Hand Injury

Stay connected for news and updates

Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford was expected to play at least a half on Saturday night against the Oakland Raiders, but he only ended up getting two drives. The reason? He banged his left hand on a helmet and was forced to leave the game because of the injury. It doesn't sound serious by any means, but Stafford had his left hand wrapped in ice before getting it taped up.

Here's a look at how Stafford hurt his hand:

As some have suggested, Stafford probably would have continued playing if this were a regular season game. Since it's just the preseason, there was no sense in keeping him in the game with a banged up left hand. I'm just glad it's not his throwing hand, as that would really give us a reason to be concerned going forward.
