The Detroit Lions and Washington Redskins still haven't announced the trade involving cornerback Kevin Barnes, meaning we still don't know the exact terms of the deal. Who or what the Lions are sending to Washington in exchange for Barnes is unknown, but he is already looking forward to joining his new team.
Barnes actually broke the news of the trade to the Washington Examiner's John Keim, and he told Keim he's excited to join the Lions.
"I’m excited," said Barnes, a fourth-year corner. "I guess they saw something they liked."
According to Keim, Barnes spoke to Lions general manager Martin Mayhew on Monday morning after originally thinking he had been released. Instead, the Redskins decided to trade him to Detroit.
The Lions haven't gotten down to 75 players yet and the 4 p.m. deadline is almost here, so one would think that we will hear more about this trade shortly.
