The Detroit Lions were back on the practice field on Tuesday to wrap up their preparation for Thursday's preseason finale. Unlike Monday's practice, the list of players out on Tuesday wasn't all that long. This is because wide receiver Calvin Johnson, tight end Brandon Pettigrew, offensive tackle Gosder Cherilus and safety John Wendling returned after being absent on Monday.
While a few players did return on Tuesday, several others missed practice again. The following players were once again out for the Lions on Tuesday: running back Kevin Smith, wide receiver Titus Young, defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch, defensive end Lawrence Jackson, linebacker Stephen Tulloch, linebacker Travis Lewis, cornerback Bill Bentley, cornerback Chris Houston and safety Louis Delmas.
It's not clear right now who will sit out Thursday's preseason finale against the Buffalo Bills, but there's really no point in playing anybody who is even slightly banged up. The starters will likely only get one series anyway, so the Lions would be better off not playing anybody who isn't 100 percent healthy.
