All Lions fans know Carpenter for his 2 interceptions in the 2011 Dallas game, but Patriots recently released the veteran LB. Could be a good pick up to boost our special teams and help on passing downs, plus he already knows our system, so not much of a learning curve will be needed for him. Lions would get the vet back for cheap. Only problem is who do we release to make room? Ashlee Palmer? Ricardo Silva? Jonte Green ( could go on practice squad)? Or just stay put and see what our LB core turns out for the season.
I only bring this up, because Durant, Tulloch, and Levy are our for sure starters, but if 2 or (God forbid) all three go down, then we would have possibly 2 rookies (both with a lot of promise) starting in LB. That could be bad in terms of experienced depth for our Lb's.
What do you guys think?
