Well what is one more bandwagon fan eh? Hope its not getting too crowded for everyone. I've actually been visiting this site quite a bit since I found it about midway through the 2010 season and finally decided to get an account and lend the occasional 'ole .02 cents worth. My story is a strange one, I'm a Michigan lad like most of you, but unlike most everyone here I did not grow up watching Lions games... yes I was homeschooled. And even worse... I played soccer. Anyways, aside from the occasional Olympics (apparently they happen only every four years or so...) my family did not watch television (something about the immorality of network television). So I did not watch much of the Lions. Though occasional rumors of a mighty demi-god named Barry Sanders, would occasionally reach my ears and I would hear tell of mighty deeds and armies slain by his might, I still knew nothing of football other than the occasional Thanksgiving Day game while at the Grandparents with the extended family. Though for some reason starting in the 2000's no one really cared to watch that game, so my introduction to the game was delayed for yet more time.
Finally the year of our Lord 2007 rolled around and I was a young lad working as a laborer on a traveling log home crew when I heard of Jon Kitna's ten win promise off some dumb espn show that the crew leader liked to watch. Knowing how lousy the Lions were I respected Kitna's chutzpah and did the only thing I could. I jumped on the bandwagon. Unfortunately they didn't make it to ten wins... and then came 0-16. What a year that was. Thankfully that now seems like a very long time ago. I've walked many paths in life since then, have gained a deeper understanding of the game(imagine my surprise when I found out at the age of 21 that the receiver is actually trying to run a predetermined route, that the quarterback isn't just chucking the ball up in the air and hoping someone gets under it in time before the other team gets to it.), have actually attended a couple of games (2010 closer against Vikes and 2011 home closer vs San Diego), and am looking forward to watching the Lions wreak havoc this year. Which I have no doubt will happen.
Looking forward to getting to know everyone and I hope to enjoy a wonderful season with you all. I know there will be tears and sorrows this year as there are every year, but for some reason I truly believe something special is about to happen in Motown.
Oh, and even my dad will be watching a few games this year as well. Ever since I showed him that catch in Dallas made in triple coverage he just can't get enough of Calvin Johnson.
