This team needs a proven leader of men. In Tennessee, Schwartz was not that teams leader - Jeff Fisher was. When he became available we should have raced out and signed him. That's what Mike Ilitch would have done.
Trivia question: Who managed the Tiger's before Sparky Anderson? - Answer: Ralph Houk - Wrong. He was the Manager the season before Sparky. Upon Houk's retirement, the Tiger's promoted a company man, Les Moss from AAA, to the position. They kept Les until mid-June and then canned him because Sparky became available. That was a bold move. Moss hadn't done anything wrong - but the Tigers' saw a chance to get a proven winner - so they leapt at it. This is what the Lion's need to do - make a bold move. Off the top of my head the following Coaches are unemployed and took their teams to Super Bowl's - Tony Dungy, Bill Cowher, John Gruden, Brian Billick, Mike Holmgren, Lovie Smith, Ken Wisenhunt - go out and get one of these guys.
Someone please dispute that we all wouldn't be more optimistic regarding this team's fortune if one of these guys was in charge? I would feel the same way I did in 1979 when the Tiger's signed Sparky - excited that we had a proven leader and winner.
Cmon Ford's - dump Schwartz and go get someone who has actually been a Head Coach before and has proven that he can win. I see very little evidence of that here currently
